Preparing Christmas II: Santa Wraping Box

At G.'s kindergarden, we were asked to have her picking one of her toys for a gift exchange with the other kids. It had to be hers (we couldn't buy a new one) and it had to be wrapped by us. And we could use our creativity to do so. She picked a huge Garfield shaped back pack that she never wore in her life, but it was too big to fit a shoe cardbox, so I had to use a slightly bigger one from a plastic swimming pool. I had the idea in my mind of using a Santa hat, somehow, to make it. I then did a quick search on google and the idea was finished and turned into something real. Using different paper colours, I cut the shapes, add the glue and she glued it to the box (with some help of course). When we were finished we had a cute Santa as the wrapping to her gift. I was really proud of it. And I loved making it with her!

Oh, and if you don't get it why it is the second post of preparing Christmas, you can see the first thing I made HERE

Pinterest Challenge |Pin 1 - August|

I don't have a lot of time until the end of the month to get all the pins done. I knew from the start I was hoping to do more than I could, but I still hope to cross a couple more before September comes.

Today I am sharing the first pin crossed. I bought a bag of pom poms and allowed my daughter to use her creativity. I drew a start and a moon in a white sheet and asked her to paint it with the pom poms. She started by filling the star shape, but then she started painted elsewhere. That's fine, because above anything else, it kept her entertained for a little while, and she loved to do so.

Pinterest Challenge #3

Apparently I am getting on track with my pinterest challenge pins and to-do's. I did finish my number one pin already, and I am just allowing the next item to dry! I am having trouble on getting the number 3 pin done, I need a special flour and I can't find it anywhere. I hope I will before April 2nd. lol

Anyway, I am here to talk about the 3rd week project of this challenge. It was an activity to do with my daughter for Father's day which will be tomorrow.

The pin from the above image was this one:

but I wasn't really sure if it was what I really wanted to do with G. I kept pinning other activities and eventually, I picked one. The one I thought to be closer to what I had in mind. Which turned out to be this:

I just loved this idea and its possibilities.

What we got though, was this:

I let her free paint in a light blue piece of paper - just so you know, if you're wondering, she's 20 months old. It was an adventure to trace her hand's shape as she didn't want to lay it quietly for more than two seconds. Trying to have her hand just like on the original imagine/pin was simply impossible. So what I did, was try and trace it in any other piece of paper, and then trasfer that drawing to the light blue paper. Then cut it, glued to a previously covered card box paper, add their pictures to each hand, and write "Love you daddy!" in the middle of the heart.
I then had her signing her name by my hand... she didn't want to so trying to do it as quick as possible, I misspelled my own child's name. There's the "e" in Gabriela missing =/
To finish off our work, I add two eyelets on top and a ribbon, so it can hand anywhere daddy wants too. In the last picture there's the photo frame/craft and the cell phone bag from this challenge previous post. Both will be daddy's surprise tomorrow morning. =)

did you miss it?
