Blouse Nancy |Sewing for your life|

 Scroll down for english, please.

I am soooooo happy to say it: I have been sewing for myself, yes, I have! And one of those things I made was the Nancy blouse I am bringing in today.

Não conhecia os moldes Sewing for you Life mas agradou-me o estilo da camisa.

I joined the pattern test after a call through facebook. I didn't know the Sewing for you Life pattern company, but liked the design of the blouse. I checked the designer's page and really liked the vintage patterns vibe.

It was great to see it starts at Europe's 32 size (not always available) which is the one I did. I just had to adjust the back lenght because I am short and have a short torso, so I took abut 3cm out. I did no other adjustments and it fits pretty well.

This is a blouse that calls for lighter fabrics, perfect for the warmer weather. The one I used was bought in a market in Spain - I miss going there. With a peplum style, short dolman sleeves, dart on the front pieces and closes in the front with buttons.

There's two options for the neckline, a V-cut or a rounded one which is this one I have on mine. I did a V-cut for my first one, and I don't have a favourite. I like them both.

Isn't it funny how our clothes can bring our mood up? I dressed (a bit) up for the photos only, and felt so much more powerful. We're still on lockdown here in Portugal, I get to go out everyday because I am one of those who still goes to work everyday, but I miss dressing up for a trip, a meeting with friends, a cup of coffee, cinema, concerts... anything! All those things we don't have for about a year now. We're all burnt out with this situation, aren't we? Bless sewing for saving us some sanity.

Knit Pencil Skirt

Hello, hello! I'm going to sew more for myself again this year. I need that sewing enthusiam from the early years back. I really need it back! I might be starting with the easy and quick, instant satisfying things, and gradually move into more time consuming, detailed or more complicated garments, I don't know. I can't tell I will or not, but sure that's what I plan to.

I did my first pattern test of the year, this amazing, quick and so, so easy pencil skirt by Pier Avenue Patterns. I mean, three pattern pieces, and a quick sew on your machine and you get a simple skirt that you can style up or down, according to your current mood.

Of course, this is the smallest size, I only had to take in a little at my upper hip - I lost a bit of weight these past few months, and I really need to get them back! I just hope I'll still fit in the skirt once I do.

I am determined to use as much as possible from my stash this year, I really have to get my fabric pile down before getting more fabric. I know, that's an old song all of us sing often, but I really mean it this time. I will sew from my stash anytime possible, buy the least I can. So that said, I used this red fabric I had bought locally. I can't tell you what type exactly this is. The pattern calls for a 4 way stretch fabric, but this one isn't. It worked though, I guess. I has some stretch, but not much though.

There's two waist lenght options for this pattern and I chose to make the high waisted one because I love it so much more than regular waist lenght. When younger I wouldn't wear anything at all over my belly button, but then kids happened and my taste in waist highs changed along.

This backstage picture my husband shoot while I was getting ready, shows the waist better than any of the other pictures we did that day...

E querem saber o melhor?

Do you want to get to know the best thing though? You can get this pattern for FREE, yes! You can buy it for 5$ over at Pier Avenue Patterns, or you can sign for their newletter and get the pattern for free. I can´t wait to style mine in a more comfy way for the daily basis look. I can totally picture it with a sweater and some sneackers, don't you?!

Fabric Tissue Case Keyrings

Two years ago I posted this fabric tissue case keyring that I made as a gift for my daughter's teacher, and although I also made some for my son's carers too, I never got to post them here on the blog. I was going through some unposted photos of items I've made in the past, and came across these. I started this post right away... in was a couple of weeks before Christmas.

I was hoping to post it as a sugestion of easy and quick gifts, you could make for others to show you care. Yep, the good thing about these really is how quick an easy they are to make. It's easy to see I failed to post it on time, but there's always good reasons to show others you care, right?

By finding these photos though, I was inspired to make two more.

One for me...

and one for my daughter. Yes, my 9 year old is crazy about animal prints!

We both have matching face masks to go with our tissue cases. For these new ones, I made them fully lined with neat finishes inside too.
