Billie Shorts for the girl

Scroll down for english, please.

I have this post in my drafts for nearly a month and it's about time to post it out, mostly because the piece itself was also made like a year ago. When this pandemia exploded and I got to stay home for a few days, I went back to sewing. not only sewing but also posting around here in the blog... I thought that I would have the time for it now. And I did, until a certain moment. Then, I got back to work, homeschool started, and we were faced with a serious health situation from a family member. That's why this post has been postponed more than I wanted to.

One of my daughter's fave clothing pieces are shorts. And, as I might have said before, she's not the typical dresses and skirts girly thingy girl. There are a few exceptions, but what she feels comfortable in are pants, leggings and shorts. Accordingly, she asked me to make her some, and I did those in the images. I used one of her outgrown button up shirts she got as a gift before, that she l-o-v-e-d dearly, and a pair of women's green jeans, that I bought new for 1€ (unfortunately, the store where I used to buy these precious and a few fabrics closed a few months ago).

For the shorts I used Billie Jeans pattern from Momma Quail Patterns, I told you about the pants version before, here and here. I used white thread to topstitch, I like the contrast. I reused the shirts pocket to embellish one of the back pockets in the shorts, and usei some of the body fabric also from the shirt to make the lining of the front pockets too. The coin pocket was replaced from a bit of the same fabric, in which I embroidered a tiny cat's head - sadly I didn't take a shoot of that.

One thing's for sure, I do prefer the pants version of this pattern. Again, I made a bad fabric choice, it wasn't stretchy enough for this pattern and she only wore them this one time (pictures were taken at an aunt's we visited that day). It's a shame, they were pretty well sewn, but they didn't fit. She complained about the back crotch being too tight as well as her legs. I promised her a new pair (that I still have to make), but she never mentioned it anymore.
