It's getting closer to one year since our wedding marathon started. Since October 2014 until now, we had 4 weddings to go. And there was a lot of sewing for those. Actually, I've never got to show you the dresses I made for myself, I still need to bridge the gap. soon, I hope. However, I have the latest one to share, a dress for my princess. Truth is this time I really wanted to skip the sewing, and I even bought a dress for myself, but when I went looking for a dress for G. I was astonished. I went to so many different shops and still I couldn't find a single formal dress. Not even one, I didn't even care for the color anymore. I was mad, and the only solution was neat: I had to make it, and so be it. Since I had to make it, I bought similar fabric colors to my own dress, in two different yellow shades, one made of batist, the other cotton and started it (even if I wasn't feeling it!).
I looked for inspiration (I didn't have any) for my dress in a Vertbaudet catalog that I recieved a while ago, after searching through all my PDF patterns or magazine patterns and just don't feel it with any of them. I wanted something simple, and swetter than what I usually make, and I found what I sort of liked in that catalog. So, with an idea in mind, I grabbed the Bumblebee dress pattern, that I have used endless times, and I made a few alterations to it, to meet what I imagined and it worked as I hoped.

I made her size 4 this time, I didn't even check her measurements but again it was ok. It fits her beautifully. The alterations I made were, making the bodice longer, shortened a bit of the waist lenght and I have cut the back in a V shape. I also added a ribbon (and bow) in the waistband and used two skirts, one in the main fabric (cotton) and one with a bit more width to gather even more in batist.

It's a pity she ruined it the same day, covering it in chocolate. I didn't take any photos of the dress before she put it on, so I couldn't photograph the details. Luckily for me, we did take a lot of photos through the cerimony where the dress shows completely, making it possible to share it in this post. Everyone was so sad when they saw her covered in the fondue chocolate, with all the work mom had to make it and all that, but I couldn't help but laughing, she had this joker face due to the chocolate all over her mouth, and I knew the fabric had been bought in the scraps sections, super cheap, and I still had enough to make another similar one if I wished to, and I knew too that it had been a quich sew and all that. Why should I get mad? She was so funny looking like that.
