Sabem a menina para quem fiz o fato de banho do meu último post? Pois bem, o que trago hoje também foi feito para ela. Esta foi a última prenda que lhe fiz. A miúda está a crescer e eu começo a achar cada vez mais difícil de saber o que lhe fazer, principalmente porque não mora perto, e os gostos dos miúdos vão mudando rapidamente. Vendo pelos meus, encontrei algo que ambos gostaram muito, e todos os outros miúdos para quem já fiz o mesmo também.

Remember the little girl I made the swimsuit for in my latest post? Well, I am bringing something I made for the same girl today. This was actually the latest gift I made her. As she is growing up, I start to find it harder to figure what could I make, especially because she doesn't live nearby and kids' tastes change pretty quick. But, turning to my own kids, I came up with something they both really liked, and all kids I've made this for in the past did too.

Ter a sua própria carteira sempre os fez sentir em controlo do seu próprio dinheiro desde muito novinhos. Quando saímos para ir às compras, ou a alguma feira, damos a cada um uma certa quantidade de dinheiro e encorajamos os miúdos a gastar o que têm com cautela. Eles é que carregam as suas bolsas e as suas carteiras sentindo-se todos crescidos, assim que achei que seria uma prenda com utilidade.

A wallet has always made them feel in control of their own money since a very young age. When we go shopping, or to any fair, we usually give them some amount and encourage them to spend their money wisely. They are the ones to carry their own bags, and wallets, feeling all grown up, so I thought this was a very useful gift.

Desta vez guiei-me pelo passo a passo do blog Crazy Little Projects para facilitar a minha vida, mas anteriormente, usei carteiras já feitas como guias para o meu próprio molde (que estupidamente nunca guardei e todas as vezes que quis fazer uma nova, tive de refazer), podem ver algumas delas na foto mais acima.

This time I used Crazy Little Projects tutorial to make my life easier, but I have made my own patterns in the past to make previous wallets (which I wasn't smart enough to keep, and had to remake them everytime I needed to sew a new wallet), you can see some of them in the photo above. 

Quanto ao tecido, lá está, sei que quando era mais pequenina, a menina gostava muito do Jack Skelleton, a mítica personagem de Tim Burton e por isso usei um tecido que aqui tinha do Nightmare Before Christmas, que também já tinha usado aqui, esperando que ela ainda gostasse. Mais uma vez, os meus adoram, mas sei que nem todos os miúdos podem gostar. 

As for the fabric, you know, I know she really liked Jack Skelleton when younger, Tim Burton's mythic character, so I used this one that I had here from Nightmare Before Christmas, which has been used here too, hoping she still liked it. Once again, mine do, but I know not all kids will. 

Para o interior usei pequenos retalhos de outros projetos. O viés foi feito com pedacinhos de uma camisa de homem que transformei num vestido para mim, o rosa tinha comprado para fazer um vestido para a festa de 8 anos da minha filha, o tema eram as bonecas L.O.L. e o branco era um retalho já não sei do quê. 

For the interior of the wallet I used small scraps that I used in previous projects. The bias tape was made out of small scraps from a men's buttonup shirt I refashioned into a dress for myself, the pink was used to make my daughter a dress for her 8th birthday, which theme was the L.O.L. dolls and the white I can´t remember what I used it for. 

Este não é o tipo de costura que mais gosto de fazer, como sabem. O meu, é muito mais a roupa, principalmente de criança. Mas quando costuro para crianças, com tecidos divertidos que eu mesma adoro pessoalmente, dá-me um gostinho especial. Espero que a pequena L. tenha gostado tanto quanto eu, e já sei o que lhe vou fazer a seguir. Só tenho de conferenciar com a mãe dela um bocadinho para escolher tecido/cor/etc., mas sem revelar qual o produto final. 

This is not my fave kind os sewing, as you know. My thing is making clothes for sure, especially kids clothes. But every now and then, when I get to make kids something else, with fun fabrics that I personally enjoy so much too, it gives me a good feeling. I hope little L. enjoyed it as much as I did, and I already know what to sew for her next, I just need to check with her mom as for what fabric/colour/etc. she's into right now, but trying not to reveal what the final piece will be.

Andava aqui a ver umas fotos de há uns anos, quando me deparei com este fato de banho que fiz há um par deles, para a filhota de uma amiga. Já nem me lembrava, que eu sou um bocadinho fraca disso da memória. E aquelas sandálias da foto? Oh my, oh my! Viagem flash para o passado, a minha filha tinha dois aninhos quando as calçava... onde vai já esse tempo?!

I was going through some older photos when I came across this swimsuit I made a few years ago, for a friend's daughter. I couldn't even remember it, since the memory department isn't much my thing. And those sandals? Oh my, oh my! It's a flash back to the past, to when my daughter was two and wearing them... wher'e that time gone?!

 

Quando vi estas fotos, resolvi partilhar por aqui, embora não seja uma peça recente. Quando mexo em albuns antigos é que me apercebo da quantidade de peças que não chegam a ser publicadas, o que é uma pena. Acima, são fotos que a mãe me enviou na altura, da pequena com o fato de banho, não é uma fofura? 😍

When I saw these photos, I decided to share them here, although it's not something I made recently. Whenever I go through these older photos, I realise how many things I sew that never make it to the blog, which is a shame. Above, are the modeling photos the girl's mom sent me back then, isn't she so cute? 😍

Então, usei o molde 27 da revista Ottobre, 3/2016 que vem com duas opções, o folhinho no peito ou então um folho maior, tipo saia na cintura. Eu não sou dada a folhos, como sabem, então escolhi o mais pequeno. Podia não ter usado nenhum? Podia, mas este até nem era assim coisa muito má. 😆😅

So, the pattern used was number 27 from the magazine Ottobre 3/2016, which comes with two option for the ruffles, the smaller one on the chest or a bigger one, like a skirt on the belly. Since ruffles and I aren't the best friends of all, I went with the smallest. Could I have skipped both? I could, but I guess it wasn't that bad to use just a small one. 😆😅

Lembro-me que na altura sofri horrores para o conseguir terminar. A linha partia a cada 5 cm costurados e depois de tentar de tudo quase arrancava os cabelos. Já nem sei como, lá consegui terminar a peça e até fiquei satisfeita com ela, dadas as circunstâncias. Não foi a primeira vez que costurei um fato de banho, mas deve ter sido a mais complicada, isso sim. 

I recall I suffered like hell to get this thing sewn together. My thread would break at every two inches I'd sew and after trying everything, I almost ripped my hair out. I can't tell how anymore, but I got the whole thing put together and I even got very pleased with it. It was not my first time sewing swimwear, but it was by far the most nerve breaking for sure. 

Se bem me recordo comprei o tecido numa ida à Espanha, aliás é o mesmo tecido que usei no meu biquíni, agora que penso nisso. Estão a ver, também não me estava a lembrar disso. O meu, fiz em 2017 e já o mostrei aqui. O elástico é de dobra e sinceramente não é da melhor qualidade, mas na altura foi o único que encontrei. O fato de banho não é forrado, apenas no entre pernas para conforto.

If I remember well, I bought this fabric in a trip to Spain, actually it is in fact the same fabric I used for my own bikini. You see, I couldn't even remember that until right now. I made mine back in 2017 and I have shared that one already, in here. I used fold over elastic, but it isn't the best quality, honestly, it was the only one I could find back then. The piece is not lined, only in between legs for comfort.

Para este ano comprei um novo pedaço de licra para fazer um fato de banho ou biquíni para mim e um para a minha G., assim bem piroso mãe-filha, mas vamos no fim de Julho e nada. Se calhar faço batota, uso o que me resta deste tecido e faço só um para ela (uma vez que já tenho o meu), ainda por cima adora o padrão. 

This year, I already bought a piece of lycra to make matching swimwear for my daughter and I, like a very mom & daughter corny style, but it is the end of July already and nothing made. Maybe I cheat and use what's left of this same fabric and just make something for her (since I already have mine), on top of it, she loves this print. 

Dress for Mom

A minha mãe. Há vários anos atrás, comecei um vestido para oferecer à minha mãe no seu aniversário, mas vai-se lá saber porquê, a verdade é que nunca cheguei a terminar essa peça. Tenho a certeza que ainda nem tinha o S. quando o comecei, e o miúdo já está mesmo às portas do sétimo aniversário. Cheguei a ter o vestido todo pronto para prova, mas precisou de ajustes e foi aí que parei. 

My mom. Quite a few years ago I started a dress to give my mom for her birthday, but god knows why, the thruth is that I never got to finish it. I'm pretty sure I didn't have S. yet when I started it, and he's already knocking at the doors of his 7th birthday. I got to the point where most of the dress was put together, so she tried it on and I had some adjustments to make.

Esse foi o problema, creio. Continuei a adiar terminá-lo por muito tempo. Cada vez que espreitava na caixa dos não terminados dizia a mim mesma vou terminar isto este mês, mas... o tempo foi passando e estamos em 2021, com ele ainda na caixa, ainda por terminar. Peguei nele e jurei que maldita seja se não o acabar. 

That was the problem I believe. I kept postponing it. many times, I'd go through my unfinished projects bin and tell myself I am doing it this month, but... time moved on and I found it once again in 2021, still in the bin, still unfinished. I held the dress in my hands and I swore I'd be damned if I didn't finish it.

E terminei. Finalmente acabei-o e enquanto o fazia não consegui deixar de pensar no meu pai. Como ele tinha gozado comigo às custas do vestido que nunca mais estava feito. Tive-o na mente na maior parte do tempo que cosia o vestido e não pude deixar de pensar que ele já não o veria terminado. 

So I did. I finally finished it and while I was doing it, I kept thinking about my dad. How he had made fun of me because of the never ending dress I was making mom. I had him in mind most of those sewing hours and I just kept thinking how sad he wouldn't see it now that it was done.

Comprei o tecido localmente há muitos anos - a loja até já fechou, e o molde que usei foi de uma revista Burda que também já tinha usado para fazer um outro vestido para mim, igual embora o meu tenha sido com umas mangas balão que a minha mãe dispensou no dela. Caso estejam com curiosidade, o meu é o vestido verde deste post, e foi feito muito antes de ter um blog. 

Bought the fabric locally years ago - that shop is already closed, and the pattern is one from a Burda magazine I once used to make myself a similar dress, though mine had some very nice puff sleeves, which mom didn't want in hers. Mine is the green dress in this post, in case you're curious, which I sewed way before I blogged.

Above just a little shoot of my sewing sketch book. I've been drawing each of the projects I want to tackle, one by one, and it's been helping me a lot to keep up with them all. One of the goals lately was to finish some projects started years ago...

4ª Semana / Week 4

E Maio já era! Que sentimento bom este de saber que consegui. Usei uma peça feita à mão todos os dias do mês e consegui publicar diariamente no IG cada uma delas. Este foi sem dúvida o ano em que me senti mais dentro do meu estilo pessoal com as peças que costurei (nunca gostei tanto do meu guarda roupa costurado por mim, como agora) e ao mesmo tempo, o ano em que partilhei mais peças novas durante o desafio. 

And May is gone! What a good feeling to know I did it. I wore at least one handmade garment every single day and was also able to keep it up, daily posting on IG. There's no doubt that this year was by far the one I felt more in my own skin with my handmades (nevr have I liked my self sewn wardrobe as much as I do now) and at the same time this was also, the year I shared more new garments during the challenge.

Já o desafio paralelo de rabiscar os looks de cada dia, ficou para trás depois do dia 19, ainda assim, mesmo que já venha fora de data/contexto, vou continuar a fazer, porque quando olho para cada folha cheia, tenho uma enorme sensação de satisfação, por estar a fazer um pouco daquilo que sempre gostei.

As for the side challenge of sketching every day's look, it got behind after the 19th, though I plan on keeping it no matter it's out of date/context because when I stare at each full page, I have this greatest feeling of satisfaction, that I am doing a bit of something I've always enjoyed so much.

O tempo corre acelerado e já passou mais uma semana. Já desisti da ideia de conseguir publicar no blogue as peças que nunca foram publicadas. Vou limitar-me a manter o desafio de vestir pelo menos uma peça feita por mim a cada dia e publicar, como já sabem, diariamente no Instagram, e semanalmente por aqui.

Time does run fast and another week has gone by. I gave up on the idea of posting those pieces that never made it to the blog already. I'll just limit myself to the challenge of wearing at least one me made every day and post it, as you know, daily on Instagram and weekly over here.

Este ano, desafiei-me não só a usar as roupas que tenho feitas por mim, como também a desenhar pequenos rascunhos dos looks usados. Não estou em dia, mas isto é só mais uma brincadeira para mim, ficam aqui alguns dos que já foram feitos. 

This year, not only have I challenged myself to wear my me made clothes, I also challenged myself to sketch the looks I've been using. I'm not up to date right now, but it is basicly just a self side challenge just for fun, and here are some of the sketches done so far.

Na última publicação, falei-vos do desafio para Maio, o #MeMadeMay e comentei que pretendia partilhar diariamente os looks no instagram e semanalmente aqui pelo blog. No instagram está a correr muito bem. Todos os dias pela manhã, faço o registo fotográfico e partilho no meu perfil. Quanto ao semanalmente por aqui, não está a correr tão bem. Só hoje consegui fazer o resumo da primeira semana (e segunda também). 

In my last post, I told you about #MeMadeMay challenge, for May and I said I wanted to share my looks daily on Instagram and weekly over here in the blog. It's going great on Instagram. Every day in the morning, I take my daily photo and share on my profile. As for the weekly post here, not so good. Today only I am able to post about week one (and two as well). 

Uma outra coisa que gostava de fazer, enquanto decorre este mês/desafio, era publicar - como deve ser - as peças que ainda não foram publicadas no blogue, como por exemplo a primeira blusa na foto abaixo. Não consegui cumprir esse (imposto) objetivo até aqui, mas ainda tenho fé de conseguir pelos menos uma ou outra peça.  

Another thing I was hoping to do, during this month/challenge, was to properly post about the pieces I've sewn and haven't been posted yet here in the blog, just like the first shirt from the photo below. I couldn't make up to that (self) challenge so far, but I still have faith I will at least post one or two.

2ª Semana / Week 2

Quem é que já ouviu falar do desafio Me Made May lançado pela Zoe do blog So, Zo em 2010? Acompanho-o há muitos desses anos mas não recordo qual foi a primeira vez que ouvi falar sobre isso, só sei que gostei da ideia e em 2016 juntei-me ao desafio. Normalmente assumimos um compromisso para o mês que procuramos manter. 

Who has heard about the Me Made May challenge that Zoe from the So, Zo blog created in 2010? I've been following it for many of those years though I can't really tell when I heard about it for the first time, one thing I know, is I liked the idea and joined in 2016. Usually you get to make a pledge and assume a compromise with yourself to get it done. 

Esse compromisso tem a ver com as nossas roupas, feitas por nós. Consiste em usarmos as peças que costurámos todos os dias do mês e tentar perceber se ainda gostamos delas, se as queremos manter, se precisam de alterações, etc. Em 2016, o primeiro ano até correu muito bem, em 31 dias só falhei o uso de 6 dias, e passado esse tempo acabei por me descartar de algumas peças que já não me faziam sentido, o vestido do dia 22, do dia 23, a saia do dia 24, os calções do 27, casaco 28 e o peplum do dia 30. 

The challenge is about our self sewn clothes. It's about wearing pieces that we made and try to understand if we still like it, if we want to keep them, if they need fixing, etc. Back in that first year, 2016, things went out pretty well, out of 31 days I only failed using my own pieces in 6 of them. After those days I gave up on a few garments that no longer made sense to me, the dress in day 22, the one of the 23, skirt from 24, shorts from 27, cardigan from 28 and the peplum on 30. 

O desafio é pessoal, e cada pessoa pode ter um objetivo em mente. Eu pretendo usar roupa costurada por mim, todos os dias do mês. Depois do desafio gosto de ver as fotos de todos os looks usados juntos e perceber quais as roupas que gostei mais de usar, e as que acho que me ficam melhor e acredito até que me ajudou a identificar o meu estilo. Em 2017, voltei a descartar algumas peças, cinco na verdade. A nível de registo fotografico do desafio, foi o ano em que ficou mais agradável ao olho. 

It is a self challenge, and each person can have a different goal in mind. I plan on using me mades every single day of the month. After the challenge I enjoy checking out all of the photos from all the looks together and understand which garments I liked using the best, the ones I think fit me better, and I believe it has also helped me finding my style. in 2017, I gave up on some pieces again, five actually. Whe it comes to the challenge photo record, this is by far the most eye-pleasing one. 

Gostei particularmente de 2018. De todas as peças nas fotos já só não tenho uma delas, o vestido curto azul. Percebi que o resto das peças que vêem nas fotos, quase todas em malha e bastante confortáveis são mesmo o tipo de roupa que mais uso, por serem práticas para a correria do dia com duas crianças. É engraçado ver que as minhas peças preferidas estão cá desde a primeira vez em que comecei a participar deste desafio, e se formos ver todos os anos com atenção há sempre peças novas a juntarem-se a essas que vão transitando ano após ano. 

I particularly liked 2018. From all the garments in these photos, there's only one I don't own anymore, the short blue dress. I realised the rest of them all are made with knits and pretty comfortable which is exactly my fave type of clothing, for they are so practical on a daily basis with two kids. It's fun to notice that my fave pieces have been around since the first time I joined the challenge, and if we pay attention there are always new clothes joining them year after year. 

No ano a seguir (2019), foi o primeiro e até agora o único em que consegui participar, tudo certinho durante todos os dias do mês e ainda costurei um vestido novo durante esses dias. Em anos anteriores, outro dos meus compromissos comigo mesma era costurar pelo menos uma peça de roupa para mim, ou duas, consoante o que escolhesse na altura e só consegui cumprir também neste ano. Desta vez, após o desafio, descartei uma única peça, e tenho outra separada para transformar. Continuo a usar todas as outras.

The next year (2019), I got to wear a me made and post them every single day for the very first time, and I even got to sew myself a new dress. In previous years, my pledge (to myself) was to sew at least one new garment for me, or two, depending on my choice any year, but was only this year that I made it actually. This time, after the challenge, I only gave up on one piece and I separated another to refashion. I still wear all the rest.

E chegamos ao último ano, 2020. Estava correr bem, saltei ali um par de dias, e ainda costurei duas novas peças para mim, - um conjunto de roupa interior. Pessoalmente porém, estava a passar por dias muito difíceis, com o meu pai no hospital. O desafio foi completamente interrompido com a sua partida, na madrugada do dia 22. Estou com muita vontade de participar novamente este ano, quero muito usar uma peça minha todos os 31 dias do mês, mas ao mesmo tempo aproxima-se o primeiro aniversário sem o meu pai e traz sentimentos à flor da pele. Penso partilhar diariamente os looks no meu instagram, e semanalmente um apanhado aqui pelo blog. Ah, e deste último ano não me desfiz de nada, continuo a usar toda as peças. E cada vez mais satisfeita com o que costuro para mim, venho a melhorar as escolhas, a pensá-las mais. 

And so we get to last year's, 2020. It was going pretty well, I skipped just a couple of days, and I got to sew myself two new pieces - a lingerie set. Personally though, I was going through a rough, with my dad in the hospital. The challenge was completely set aside, when he passed the 22nd. I'm really into  doing it again this year, I want to wear one of my me mades every single one of the 31 days, but at the same time it's the first year of my dad's passing and it brings feelings to the surface. I plan of posting my looks daily on instagram and make a wrap up weekly here on the blog.  Oh, and from last year's I did not give anything away, am still wearing all of them. Everytime I feel more and more satisfied with what I sew for myself, I think my choices more thoughfully, I guess.

Self Drafted Lunch Bag

Quando se aproximou o aniversário da minha amiga e colega de trabalho não sabia bem o que lhe oferecer. Depois de pensar comecei a bordar um quadro em ponto cruz, cheguei mesmo a terminar o dito, mas não tinha moldura, ou um bastidor com o tamanho adequado. Estávamos em pleno segundo confinamento, assim que me vi sem tempo para encomendar um, sem poder sair para comprar. Coloquei então a peça de lado para outra altura e comecei a pensar noutra coisa. 

When my friend and co-worker birthday came close, I really didn't know what to get her. After some thinking I started with a cross stitched project, I even finished the whole thing, but I had no frame or decent sized hoop to gift it to her. We were in the middle of the second lockdown here in Portugal, I didn't have enough time to order some, nor go out and buy it because everything was shut down. So I set it aside for maybe another time and started thinking of another project. 

E assim, lembrei-me de recriar um saco que costumo usar como lancheira. É na verdade um saco de um plástico bem rijo que veio do veterinário com medicação para o meu gato. Embora seja um saco publicitário, adoro o modelo e o fato de fechar com uma mola. E como se aguenta tão bem de pé, gosto muito de o usar para levar o meu lanche diariamente. A D. uma vez mencionou que também o achava bastante prático também. 

And somehow, I came with the idea of recreating a bag that I use as my lunch bag. It is actually a very stiff plastic bag that I got with one of my cat's medicine at the vet. Although it has some pet publicity on it, I love the design and the snap closure. Also, because it stands so well on its own, I love to use it as my lunch bag everyday. D. once mentioned she thought it was pretty handy too. 

Andava com a ideia de recriar o saco em mente há algum tempo, pois queria fazer um para mim num tecido jeitoso ao invés da publicidade do meu atual. Acabei or fazer um para a D. primeiro. Usei um tecido grosso de decoração para que o saco ficasse mais rijo e se aguentasse bem. 

The idea of recreating the bag was in my mind for a while actually, I wanted to make myself one in a pretty fabric instead of the publicity in it. Turns out I made one for D. first. I used upholstery fabrics for the bag to make it as stiffer as possible and it holds pretty well. 

Desenhei o molde a partir do saco existente e correu muito bem. O viés que usei para terminar as pegas é que não ficou tanto assim, principalmente no interior, não ficaram nada como eu teria querido. Para o próximo vou ver se faço a construção do mesmo de forma diferente, porque, sim, vai haver uma próxima vez, já que continuo a querer um para mim também. 

I drafted the pattern out of that existing one and it worked pretty well. The bias I added to finish the handles didn't go so well, especially on the inside it doesn't look as pretty as I would have liked. I might make the construction a little different next time, because yes, there will be a next time, I still want one for myself, that is for sure. 

Who still writes/reads sewing blogs in here?

Hoje comecei um tópico no grupo do facebook Cose + com uma pergunta: quem é que ainda escreve/lê blogs de costura por aqui? A maioria das pessoas disse que não liam blogues a não ser que algum link do IG por exemplo, os direcionasse para lá. Algumas disseram que sentem saudades de os ler e apenas umas duas disseram que ainda escrevem um (embora pouco frequentemente). 

Today I started a topic in a portuguese sewing group on facebook, with the question: Who still writes/reads sewing blogs in here? Most people said they don't read blogs unless they are directioned to them through an IG link for example. Some said they missed reading blogs, only about two, said they were still writing one (though not often). 

Fiquei um pouco triste, não é que eu já não soubesse que os blogs morrem devido a outras plataformas de redes sociais, mas a maioria das pessoas que comentaram, referiram que desconheciam mesmo a existência de blogues portugueses. Então, esse mesmo grupo do qual fazem parte foi formado por um grupo de bloggers portuguesas (no qual me incluo), o Cose + (que enquanto website já não existe, mas que mantém o grupo). 

It made me a little sad, it's not like I didn't know blogs were dying due to other social media platforms, but most of the people that commented said they didn't even know that there were any portuguese blogs out there. Come on, that facebook was created by a group of portuguese blogs, when we created the website Cose + (that doesn't exist anymore, only this group remained).

Eu vou ficar por aqui. É verdade que acontece muito mais por essas outras redes, mas não há nada como os blogs. Eu não chego a conhecer realmente ninguém através do instagram, ou do facebook. Com o blog a partilha era mais próxima. Continuo a ler os poucos que vão publicando, e continuo a partilhar o que for fazendo, que por sinal, ando desalvorada para costurar. 

I'll stay here. It is true that tehre's a lot more happening in other social media, but there's no other like the blogs. I don't get to know anyone as much though instagram or facebook as I did with blogging. It has been a much closer sharing. I still be reading the few blogs that still post every now and then, and I'll still share whatever I'll be making, which by the way, I've been on a sewing fire.

Não sei dizer há quanto tempo, mas há mesmo muito que na minha lista de desejos de costura estavam uma calças largas para mim. Tenho várias Burdas com algumas, e até já tinha feito o download das Aster Pants, molde grátis da Mood Sewciety, bastante semelhante a estas, mas faltava algo. 

I don't know for how long, but it's been quite a long time since I had the sewing wish to make myseld a pair of wide pants. I have several Burdas with a few, and I also had download the Aster Pants, a free pattern from Mood Sewciety, very similar to these I made, but there was something missing. 

Acabei por usar este molde em especifico porque tinha o meu tamanho (34) disponível, muitas das peças Burda só começam no 36 e tenho de ajustar, o que nem sempre me apetece. A parte de passar moldes e tal, é a minha menos preferida de toda a costura, assim que, quanto mais exato for, melhor. 

I ended up using this specific Burda pattern, because my size (eu 34) was available, many of their pieces only start at 36, and I always have to make adjustments, and not always feel like it. Pattern tracing and all that, is my least fave when it comes to sewing, so, if I can have things down for me, the better. 

Ainda assim, tive que apertar a cintura porque tenho as costas muito fundas em relação ao rabo, e mesmo em calças ou saias de compra é algo que tenho quase sempre de fazer, apertar a cintura e a parte superior do gancho traseiro. 

Still, I had to fix the waistband because my back is too deep comparing to mu bottom, and even in ready to wear pants and skirts I have to take them in most of the times, waist and upper back crotch. 

Uma vez que sou baixinha, tive também de cortar uma boa parte da bainha nestas calças. Deixei-a um pouco mais comprida para poder usar com saltos altos. Raramente uso saltos desde que fui mãe, mas que gosto, ai isso gosto de um bom salto. E para mim, estas calças só ficam bem com um belo de um salto alto. 

Also, because I am quite short I had to take a few inches off the lenght. I left it a little longer so I can wear it with hight heels. I rarely use them ever since I had kids, but do I love one, oh I do. And for me, these kind of pants only look good with a pair of heels. 

O tecido veio de casa da minha mãe. Era um bom pedaço e a cor é uma das minhas preferidas. O caimento também era o ideal para as calças que eu tinha em mente, sem ser demasiado pesado, mas também sem ser demasiado leve. 

This fabric came from my mother's house. It was a good piece of it and in one in my fave colors. It falls just right for the pants I wanted, being not too heavy ror too light.  

Das últimas peças que fiz, e segundo a minha filha, esta é a preferida. Embora também goste muito da camisa que mostrei no último post, tenho de concordar com ela. As calças são também as minhas preferidas. Com bolsos nas laterais, grandes pregas na frente, e fecha com fecho de correr e colcheta. 

From all the latest clothes I sewn lately, this is my daughter's fave. Although I also like the previous blouse I showed here, I have to agree with her. These are also my fave. They have side pockets, big front pleats, and closes with a zipper and bracket.

É com muita alegria que o digo: Tenho costurado para mim, sim, tenho! E uma dessas coisas que costurei foi a Nancy blouse que trago hoje. 

I am soooooo happy to say it: I have been sewing for myself, yes, I have! And one of those things I made was the Nancy blouse I am bringing in today.

 

Juntei-me ao teste do molde depois de ver o anúncio para o mesmo no facebook. Não conhecia os moldes Sewing for you Life mas agradou-me o estilo da camisa. Fui espreitar a página da criadora e gostei bastante da vibe vintage dos moldes. 

I joined the pattern test after a call through facebook. I didn't know the Sewing for you Life pattern company, but liked the design of the blouse. I checked the designer's page and really liked the vintage patterns vibe.

Bem bom ver que o molde começa no número 32 (que nem sempre disponível) que foi o que fiz. De ajustes só precisei de encurtar o comprimento das costas, tirando uns 3 cm, pois sou baixinha, e tenho um tronco curto. Não fiz outros ajustes. 

It was great to see it starts at Europe's 32 size (not always available) which is the one I did. I just had to adjust the back lenght because I am short and have a short torso, so I took abut 3cm out. I did no other adjustments and it fits pretty well.

 

Esta camisa pede tecidos mais leves, perfeitos para o tempo mais quente. O que eu usei comprei-o num mercado na Espanha - que saudades de lá ir. Com um estilo peplum, mangas curtos tipo morcego, pinças nas peças da frente e fecha com vários botões em toda a frente. 

This is a blouse that calls for lighter fabrics, perfect for the warmer weather. The one I used was bought in a market in Spain - I miss going there. With a peplum style, short dolman sleeves, dart on the front pieces and closes in the front with buttons.

 

Para a decore, tem duas opções disponíveis, uma em V e outra arredondada, que é esta da minha camisa. Para a minha primeira prova fiz a versão em V, e não tenho uma preferida. Gosto de ambas. 

There's two options for the neckline, a V-cut or a rounded one which is this one I have on mine. I did a V-cut for my first one, and I don't have a favourite. I like them both.

Não é engraçado como as nossas roupas nos podem mudar o humor? Eu aperaltei-me (um pouco) para as fotos e senti-me muito mais poderosa. Continuamos neste confinamento, embora eu continue a sair todos os dias, porque sou dos que continuam a trabalhar, e sinto saudades de me vestir com pimpa para passear, para me encontrar com as amigas, para um café, cinema, concertos... qualquer coisa! Todas essas coisas das quais nos temos privado por quase um ano já. Estamos todos no limite com esta situação, não estamos? Haja costuras para manter alguma sanidade. 

Isn't it funny how our clothes can bring our mood up? I dressed (a bit) up for the photos only, and felt so much more powerful. We're still on lockdown here in Portugal, I get to go out everyday because I am one of those who still goes to work everyday, but I miss dressing up for a trip, a meeting with friends, a cup of coffee, cinema, concerts... anything! All those things we don't have for about a year now. We're all burnt out with this situation, aren't we? Bless sewing for saving us some sanity.
