American Doll Clothes

As American dolls não são muito conhecidas por nós, mas nos Estados Unidos são bastante queridas entre as meninas, existindo até cafés temáticos, onde tudo é pensado ao pormenor. Há uns dias, recebi uma mensagem de uma mãe que me pedia um vestido para a boneca da filha. Para além do vestido acabei por fazer mais 3 peças: 1 top, 1 leggings e 1 túnica. Para todas as peças usei moldes grátis que encontrei depois de uma pesquisa. Aqui podem encontrar várias opções. 

American dolls are pretty known in the US but not so much over here, so I was a bit surprised (in a good way) when I got a request for an american doll dress. Besides the dress I ended up making 3 pieces: 1 top, 1 leggings and 1 tunic. For all the pieces I used free online patterns that I found. Find different options for more here.

Comecemos pela túnica. A intenção era fazer um vestido, mas não sabia a altura que cortar já que não tinha a boneca comigo. Calculei mais ou menos onde deveria cortar mas ainda assim achei que ia ficar curto, por isso, passou a túnica e pronto. A gola ficou estranha. Fazer roupas pequeninas por vezes tem as suas dificuldades. 

Let's start with the tunic. The idea was to make a dress, but I didn't know how long I should cut the skirt because I didn't have the doll with me. I knew it'd be too short , so a tunic it is. The collar's a bit odd. Making tiny clothes comes with difficulties sometimes.

Depois o vestido, que foi o que me pediram. A parte de cima é forrada (a cetim rosa neste caso) e para o fecho nas costas, aproveitei um reciclado de outra peça que terá acabado transformada ou no lixo anteriormente. O tecido exterior foi-me doado por uma amiga. Este foi o que mais gostei de costurar. 

After I made the dress, which was the one thing I was asked for. The top is completely lined (with a pink satin) and for the back zipper I used a recycled one from a previous refashioned or trashed piece. The main fabric had been given to me by a friend. This was the one I liked best.

Gostava de partilhar convosco o link para o molde das leggings mas já procurei várias vezes e não o encontro. Foi a costura "mais descuidada" de todas por esta malha é muito leve e trabalhá-la assim em ponto pequeno exigia uma paciência que eu não tinha no momento. Pensei em não oferecer esta à menina, mas depois imaginei que ela não iria reparar muito se as costuras estariam direitas ou tortas. Isso sim, era mais uma peça de roupa para vestir e despir as suas bonecas. 

I'd really like to share the leggings pattern link too but I seriously can't find it. I've looked for it several times and nothing. This was the "less cared" sew of all because this knit is very light and working it on a tiny piece called for a lot of patience which I didn't have at the moment. I thought about not giving this one away, but then I thought twice, the little girl wouldn't care for bad seams anyway, instead, I'm sure she'd rather have another garment to put on and off on her dolls. 

Já o halter top foi a minha segunda preferida. Isto no meu tamanho até era coisa para eu gostar e usar bastante. hehehe Este está também todo forrado com tecido de um lençol branco. 

As for the halter top, it was my second fave. This in my size and I would wear it and like it a lot. hehehe. This one is also fully lined with a white sheet fabric.

Abby's Tights

Tudo pronto para 2019? As festas ficaram para trás, vamos lá começar uma nova caminhada rumo a 2020... ahahah... Lembram-se da túnica Rival Raglan de há três posts atrás? Planeava partilhar esta peça logo de seguida e quase me esqueci de o fazer. São as meias-calça Abby Footed Tights (da The Wolf and the Tree) que fiz juntamente com a túnica para a filha da minha amiga. Creio que foi o tamanho 4 (ele tem 3) e se nao estou em erro ainda assim não ficaram muito bem porque a miúda é alta. 

Everyone ready for 2019? Holidays are over so let's get started in a new path straight to 2020... ahahah... Remember the Rival Raglan tunic I shared like three posts ago? I was planning on sharing this one right away and I almost forgot to do it at all. Well, I made this Abby Footed Tights (by The Wolf and the Tree) to send with the tunic to my friends daughter. I believe I made her a size 4 (she's 3) and I still wasn't sure this would fit, she's tall. 

Fiz esta há tanto tempo que realemente não me lembro de muitos detalhes da mesma. Já tinha feito umas outras antes, há uns aninhos para a minha filha, podem ver aqui. Creio que eram até do mesmo tamanho. Porém tecido que usei nestas para a filha da minha amiga, não é tão elástico como o das primeiras e faz muita diferença (o da minha era muitoooooo mais).

I made this so long ago I can't really remember many details to tell you about. I made another one for my daughter before, a few years ago, you can see it here. I guess that was the same size actually. The fabric I used for my friend's daughter wasn't as stretchy as the one I used for mine and it shows (it was veryyy stretchy). 

Adoro o tecido. Eu sei, adoro caveiras... desde sempre! E estas então são super queridas com os olhos em forma de coração. Verão mais coisas feitas com ele de certeza, comprei uma boa quantidade e mal posso esperar para o usar de novo.

I love this fabric. I know, I love skulls... always have! And these are so cute with the little hearts in the eyes. You'll be seeing this again, I got quite a bit left and can't wait to make something else with it.

Doll Cloth Diapers

Uma das coisas que quero fazer este ano, é costurar mais items para as brincadeiras do faz de conta, dos meus filhos. Já tenho feito alguns, mas há muitos outros que têm ficado em lista de espera. Este ano, ainda não me estreei nessas lides, porém, tenho para vos mostras umas fraldas de pano para bonecos que fiz para a minha G. há praticamente um ano, mas que nunca cheguei a partilhar. Ao arrumar algumas pastas encontrei as fotos. 

One of the things I want to make this is, is sewing more items for my kids play pretend. I have made a few before, but so many others have been kept in the wish to do list. I haven't started on this yet, instead, I have some baby doll cloth diapers I made for G. about a year ago, which never made it to the blog. As I was organizing some folders I found these photos. 

Este foi um daqueles projetos não planeados, costurados na hora que nos lembramos de o fazer. Estávamos ambas a brincar juntas, e ela queria colocar e tirar as fraldas a dois dos nenucos dela, mas só tinha para um deles. Levantei-me, peguei em retalhos que ela escolheu e mesmo sem molde, só colocando as existentes por cima dos dois tecidos que queria usar, cortei a forma das fraldas, e adicionei margem para costura à volta, mesmo a olho. Cortei mais dois iguais em branco para a parte interior de cada uma das fraldas.

This was one of those unplanned projects, sewed as I thought about them. We were both playing together, and she wanted to put diapers on two of her baby dolls, so she kept putting it on and off from both because she only had one. I got up, grabbed some scraps she picked and using the existing one on top of the scraps, creating a pattern, I just added eye measured seam allowances, and cut. I used two more pieces in white for the lining. 

Num instantinho estavam as duas fraldas costuradas, foi só adicionar o velcro e estavam prontas para brincar. Ela tem mais um par, se recordo bem, foi o primeiro que fiz quando ainda não tínhamos nenhum para molde, e que não encontrámos. São um pouco maiores. Para completar, cortei alguns quadrados no tecido branco, chuleei à volta e voilá: toalhitas para bonecos. 

I had two cloth diapers sewn in a blink, I just had to add the velcro to it and they were ready for play. She has another one, if I am not wrong, it was the first one I made when we still didn't have any to use as pattern, which we couldn't find. They are slightly bigger. To finish off, I just cut a few squares from the white fabric, finished with a zigzag stitch and voilá: doll wipes.
