Um dos meus objetivos (na costura) para 2019 é voltar a costurar mais para mim. Os miúdos estão numa idade em que destroem tudo, e parte-me o coração ver as peças feitas à mão a serem destruídas. Além disso, a roupa para mulher apresenta-me mais desafios e tenho saudades disso - não foi o caso desta que hoje mostro. 

One of my (sewing) goals for 2019 is to sew more for myself again. Kids are at the age of destroying every single thing they own, and it breaks my heart to see a destroyed handmade. Besides, I think women's clothes are a bit more challenging and I miss that - it's not what happened with this one I am bringing in today though. 

Há um ano que tenho este tecido e desde que a minha amiga P. mo deu (depois de destralhar os tecidos dela - foi um saco cheio deles e tenho andado a usar ultimamente), que eu pensei logo em qualquer coisa do género. O molde Uvita top, da Itch to Stitch foi a escolha ideal. Quando o tema é costurar para mulher, esta designer é sem dúvida a minha eleita. Este foi foi na verdade o mais simples que já usei dela. 

I've had this fabric for a year and ever since my friend P. gave it to me (after destashing her own fabrics - she gave me a whole bag which I have been using lately), I've been wanting to make something like this. The Uvita Top, pattern by Itch to Stitch was the right choice. When it comes to women pattern designers, no one bits Itch to Stitch in my opinion. The Uvita top is actually the simpliest pattern I've used from this designer. 

Adoro o design da blusa, mas ainda gosto mais desta malha. Assenta tudo na perfeição e tenho-a vestido imensas vezes. Não tinha muita certeza que fosse resultar, mas resultou e podia fazer mais umas quantas. Pensei que 

I love the simple design of the shirt, but I love this knit even more. The fit is perfect and I've been wearing it a lot. I wasn't sure this would work in my fabric choice but it did, I could make a few more of these. 

Normalmente gosto de peças simples, sem grandes adornos (mesmo nas peças de compra), mas neste caso quis fazer algo diferente. Cheguei até a cortar as letras M e E (iniciais do meu nome) num tecido de pêlo, mas não gostei de ver como ficava. Fui em busca do plano B e cosi estas missangas que já tinha há uns anos. 

I usually keep my clothes simple. I am not one to love a lot of details in my garments (even when they are RTW), but I wanted this one to have something different. I've even cut the letters M and E (my name initials) in a furry fabric to applied them on the front of the shirt, but I didn't like how it looked. I looked for a B plan then, and sewed this grey beads I had for years. 

Button Up Pencil Skirt

Porque Março já está perto de acabar, andava eu aqui a ver umas fotos das minhas roupas feitas à mão, para participar novamente no #MeMadeMade, quando me deparei com uma saia que fiz há já quase três anos e que ainda não tinha chegado ao blog. Como nunca é demasiado tarde para mim, aqui vai. Apresento-vos a minha versão da Button Up Pencil Skirt. 

March is almost over and I was going through some photos of #memades, with #MeMadeMay on my head already, when I came across this skirt I made almost three years ago and has never made it to the blog. It's never too late, I think, so here it is. Meet my version of the Button Up Pencil Skirt. 

Esta saia é muito versátil. O tecido que usei (que tem alguma elasticidade) foi-me oferecido por uma amiga que me disse que era para fazer algo para mim, e para honrar o pedido, foi o que fiz. Usei-o quando me apareceu a oportunidade de testar este molde para The Ruffle Stitch, e não poderia ter corrido melhor porque dá para a usar todo o ano. 

This is a very versatile skirt. The fabric I used (slightly stretchy) was a gift from a friend, I remember she told me I should make something for myself with it. I wanted to honor that, and that's exactly what I did. When the chance came to test this pattern for The Ruffled Stitch, I used this fabric and couldn't be happier because I wear it all year long. 

O molde vem com duas opções diferentes. Na primeira tem carcela e botões de cima a baixo na parte da frente e encaixe e bolsos na parte de trás. A outra tem uma carcela parcial na frente e é simples atrás. Fiz a segunda opção e dá para a vestir mais compostinha ou mais descontraída. 

The pattern comes in two different versions. One has a full front button placket with the back featuring a slanted yoke and back pockets. The other has a partial front button placket and simple back. I made the second option and I love how I can dress it up or down. 

Não tenho nenhuma foto que dê para ver de perto os botões, mas são maravilhosos. Foram também prenda da mesma amiga e são como um tesouro para mim. Tem um ar tão vintage. 

I don't have a close up of those buttons, but they are so precious. They were also a gift from the same friend and I really treasure them. They looked pretty vintage. 

Como já disse, é possível vestir esta saia durante o ano inteiro, o que para mim vale muito. E tenho-a vestido muito. Cada vez que o faço penso em encurtar a altura por questões de gosto pessoal, mas só me lembro disso quando a visto. Quem sabe o faço um dia destes.

As I said, I am able to wear it all year around, which is great. And I have been wearing it a lot since I made it. I just feel like I rather make it a little shorter. I think about it everytime I wear it, but haven't come around to make it yet. Maybe sometime soon. 

Tea Bag Pouch Keyring Tutorial

Há uns dias publiquei a carteirinha para chás e porta-chaves que fiz para a minha colega e pelo menos duas pessoas mostraram interesse em querer fazer uma igual. Isso é o quanto basta para que eu faça um passo a passo aqui para o blog. Queria fazer uma para mim também, e assim que vi os comentários, meti mãos na massa e comecei. Foi o empurrão que precisava, de outra forma, poderia continuar a adiar fazer a minha. 

A few days ago I posted the tea bag pouch keyring I made for a friend and two readers showed interest in making their own. You know that is enough to get me working on a tutorial for the blog. I wanted to make one for myself too, so as soon as I read their comments I strarted working on it. It was the motivation I needed, otherwise, I would probably keep on postponing it. 

Caso queiram fazer uma, deixo-vos então aqui os passos para isso. Antes de mais nada, há que reunir o material necessário e cortar as peças de tecido necessárias (e já vou assumindo que têm o básico como linhas, máquina, etc). Para a minha parte exterior usei um painel em patchwork que já tinha costurado antes, mas claro, podem usar um pedaço de tecido simples.

Anyway... if you want to make one too, here's how to. First of all, gather your supplies and cut your fabric (I am assuming you have all the sewing basics like thread, machine, etc). On the picture above there's everything you need. For my main (outside) fabric I used a patchwork panel I had put together, but you can just cut a piece of fabric, of course. 

Na imagem acima têm tudo o que vão precisar com excepção de um pedaço de entretela termocolante, de resto está tudo descrito. Vamos começar por cortar todas as peças. Eu usei tecidos diferentes mas podem usar tudo da mesma cor também.

In the picture above, you have all the supplies needed for the project except for a little bit of fusible interfacing. We'll start by cutting all the pieces. I used different fabrics but you can use just one of course. 

1. Dobrar os bolsos ao meio na altura e vincar com o ferro. 

2. No tecido do forro, vamos medir 2cm para dentro de cada lateral em cima e em baixo. Marcar uma linha. 

3. Colocar um dos bolsos (com a dobra virada para o meio da peça) e prender com alfinetes. Repetir para a outra margem. 

4. Coser a 0,5cm. 

5. Colocar em cada ponta mais um bolso, desta vez mesmo encostado à margem da peça do forro. Prender com alfinetes. Coser. 

1. Fold the pockets in half height wise and press with the iron. 

2. Measure 2cm from each edge on the lining fabric, and mark ta line there. 

3. Pin one of the pockets, with the folded edge facing the center of the piece, on the line you created. Repeat for the other edge. 

4. Sew at 0,5cm. 

5. Place another pocket on top of the previous, but at the very edge of each side. Pin in place, and sew it. 

|Quando andei a editar as fotos apaguei a seguinte sequência sem querer, por isso não têm número, mas sigam a ordem das fotos| Vamos fazer a tira para prender a argola do porta-chaves, para isso, cortamos uma tira de entretela e colamos ao tecido com o ferro. Dobram-se 0,5cm do tecido para dentro nos lados mais compridos e marcam-se com o ferro. Depois dobra-se a peça ao meio, volta a marcar-se com o ferro e leva-se à máquina a correr a cerca de 3mm da beira a cada lateral. Passa-se a tira pela argola do porta-chaves, dobrando-a ao meio e colocando a argola mesmo no centro,  cose-se o mais perto possível (como na foto), o uso de um pé calcador de fechos poderá ajudar. Para terminar, prende-se a tira precisamente a meio dos bolsos, com alfinetes, ou então com pespontos. 

|When I edited these photos I accidentaly deleted the steps above so they have no numbers on each photo, but you just follow the sequence and everything will be fine.| SO, let's make the keyring strip, and for that, we have to cut a small fusible interfacing piece and press on to our main piece. Fold 0,5cm at each of the longest edges, and iron on. Then you fold the piece in half, press it again, then topstitch it on your machine at a 3mm lenght in each side. Fold the strip in half and slide the ring, so it stays right in the center. Sew it as close to the ring as possble (as seen on picture), using a zipper foot may help. To finish, pin the strip to the lining piece, right in the center. You can baste it in place too. 

6. Agora com a peça do fecho, colar também um pedaço de entretela no meio.

7. Usar a chapinha do interior da mola como molde e marcar os dois buracos que vamos abrir a seguir. Cortar com a ponta da tesoura com muito cuidado.

8. Passar a parte exterior da mola pelas aberturas acabadas de fazer pelo direito do tecido. No avesso, colocar a argola nos ferros. Dobrar as abas com a ajuda de um alicate.

9. Dobrar a tira ao meio e cose deixando uma das pontas mais estreitas aberta para virar a peça.

10. Antes de virar aparar as costuras para baixar o volume.

11. Virar a peça com muito cuidado. Não é fácil, em alternativa podem sempre usar outro tipo de fecho, como as molas de plástico.

6. On the closure strip, iron on a little piece of interfacing. 

7. Use the small plate for the inside of your snap, as a guide and mark two holes you should carefully open. Use your scissors with care. 

8. Slide the snap front piece through the holes you just opened on the right side of your fabric. In the back, slide thr plate in place and fold the tabs with a pliers. 

9. Fold the stip in half, and sew. Leave one of the edges open so you can turn your piece outside out. 

10. Before you turn it, trim your seams to avoid bulk. 

11. Turn the piece very carefully. It won't be easy if you're using a magnet snap like I do, so you can probably use KAM snaps like I did in my previous or whatever you feel more comfortable with. 

12. Medir e marcar com um ponto 5cm do top no tecido exterior (de cima para baixo na que será a frente da carteira).

13. Vamos colocar a outra parte da mola e para isso voltamos a repetir o processo, chapa em cima do ponto que acabámos de marcar, marcar as duas aberturas, passar a mola pelas mesmas pela frente, colocar chapa por detrás e apertar com alicate.

14. Descobrimos o meio na outra lateral. 

15. Prendemos a fita com a mola virada para fora.

16. Deve ficar assim.

12. Measure and mark 5cm from the top on the main fabric (from top to bottom, which will be the pouch front). 

13. Insert the other part of the snap repeating the same process, use place as guide, mark holes place, cut them, slide snap on front, slide place on the back and fold with pliers. 

14. Find the center of the opposite edge, 

15. Pin the strip with the other part of the snap facing out. 

16. That's how it should look like. 

17. Prender o enchimento no lado direito da peça de tecido principal. 

18. Adicionar a nossa etiqueta se o quisermos fazer e onde quisermos fazer. 

19. Colocar tecido exterior e forro, direito com direito.  

20. Alguém comeu este passo! ahahah

21. Alfinetar tudo à volta e cose, deixar uma pequena abertura na base com cerca de 4cm. 

22. Virar a peça pela abertura, passar a ferro. 

23. Fechar a abertura com pontos invisíveis à mão. 

17. Pin the filling to the right side of your main fabric piece. 

18. If you want to add a tag do it now, where you want to. 

19. Put lining fabric on top of main fabric piece, right sides together. 

20. Someone ate this step! ahahah

21. Pin all around and sew, just leave a small opening with about 4cm to turn it around. 

22. Turn it around and press. 

23. Close the opening with invisible stitches. 

Parabéns, o vosso novo porta-chaves está terminado. Podem guardar os vossos chás preferidos na bolsa e desfrutá-los sempre que vos apetecer. Espero que tenha sido tudo claro. Já nem me lembro quando fiz um passo a passo, nem me lembrava da trabalheira que dá, mas se puder ajudar alguém, já valeu a pena.

E chegamos a Fevereiro e eu ainda tenho prendas de Natal para mostrar... como já tinha mencionado, vai aos poucos, aos poucos. Desta vez trago a prenda que fiz para a minha colega de trabalho. Reparei que o porta-chaves dela estava velhinho, é um D feito também em tecido, a inicial do seu nome.Além disso, gostamos muito de beber cházinho nos dias de inverno durante o nosso lanche, assim que lembrei-me de misturar tudo isto e fazer isto para ela.

And we're in February and I am still sharing Christmas gifts... as I mentioned before , it's coming slowly, slowly. This time there's the gift I made for my co-worker. I noticed her keyring was too old, it is a fabric D, her names initial. Besides, we both like to have a tea on our break in winter, so I thougt I could mix it all and make her this. 

Fiz-lhe uma carteirinha para chás que é ao mesmo tempo um porta-chaves. Usei o tecido amarelo que tinha comprado para fazer a prenda do filho dela, o jogo de bowling que já mostrei aqui, e mais uns retalhinhos que já tinha de há anos. Criei o molde à medida que o fui fazendo e correu muito bem. 

I made her this little teabag pouch which is at the same time a keyring. I used the same yellow fabric I bought to make her son's gift, the bowling set I showed here, and also a few little scraps I've had for years. I made the pattern as I sewed and it went pretty well. 

Na parte da frente da carteira, apliquei com um ponto em zigue zague a letra do nome dela para fazer lembrar o porta-chaves que ela já tinha. Acho que preciso de fazer um para mim também e ter sempre um par de chás à mão. Acredito que é uma lembrança engraçada para quem como nós, gosta de beber o seu. E vocês, o que acharam?

On the front of the teabag pouch, I've sewn with a zig zag stitch her name's initial, to remind her of the old keyring she already had. I think I need to make one of these for myself too, and have my tea bags always at hand. I believe it is a cute gift to someone like us, that loves to drink their tea. What do you think? 

Boxy Boyfriend Tee #2

Uma vez que no último post vos mostrei uma das duas t-shirts que fiz quando testei o molde Boxy Boyfriend Tee (EYMM), fazia todo o sentido mostrar a outra também. Gosto imenso das duas, mas há detalhes nesta que a fazem um pouco melhor a meu ver. 

Since I showed you one of the Boxy Boyfriend Tee (EYMM) I tested in my latest post, it makes totally sence to post the second one now. I really love both but this one has a few little details that makes it a bit better, at least for me. 

Para começar sempre que a visto lembro-me de uma amiga querida porque foi ela quem me ofereceu o tecido. É um pouco transparente e nesta peça eu preferia que não fosse, ainda assim não o suficiente para eu não gostar dela e vestir vezes sem conta como tenho feito desde o primeiro dia. Poderão lembrar-se dele daqui também. Fiz a gola em V, e adicionei um minúsculo bolso com o padrão inverso à peça para lhe dar algum destaque. 

To start, every time I wear it, I remind myself of a dear friend because she offered me the fabric I used to make it. It is a bit see through, and it'd rather not for me for this piece, still not quite enough to make me not love it and wear it over and over as I have been doing since day one. You might remember this fabric from here too. I made the V neck option here, and added a tiny pocket on the front, using the stripes from the fabric on a different direction for contrast. 

Na lateral optei por fazer a pequena abertura tal como na versão anterior por ser um detalhe do qual gosto bastante (e sim, a frente é mais curta que a parte de trás). Além disso, não sei se conseguem ver, mas não consigo deixar de me babar com as linhas todas certinhas nas costuras laterais. 

I did the split hem again as I did in the previous version because that's a detail I really like (and yes, the front is shorter than the back piece). Besides, I don't know if you can see it, but I can't stop drooling over my matched stripes on the side seams. 

Boxy Boyfriend Tee #1

Disse-vos antes que ainda tinha coisas de 2018 por publicar?! Oh, eu tenho é uma série delas ainda de 2017 também (e se calhar ainda mais velhas), quanto mais de 2018. Vou começar por uma peça que talvez já tenham visto no meu instagram e que eu adoro, adoro, adoro. Umas das duas Boxy Boyfriend Tee, cujo molde testei para a EYMM. 

Did I tell you I still had stuff from 2018 to post?! Oh 2081, I still have stuff from 2017 too (or even older). I will start with something that you might have seen on my instagram before, and that I love, love, love. It is one of the Boxy Boyfriend Tee I made while testing the pattern for EYMM. 

Eu acho este molde perfeito, se calhar porque é mesmo o tipo de roupa que eu visto no meu dia a dia, bastante casual, leve e com a qual me sinto mesmo bem (geralmente os moldes EYMM costumam entrar nos meus preferidos). Esta t-shirt em particular vem em 11 tamanhos diferentes e fica bem a toda a gente. Tem 3 tipos de gola diferentes, 3 bainhas diferentes e outros acabamentos para personalizar ao nosso gosto. 

I think this is a perfect pattern, maybe because this is pretty much my style on a daily basis, pretty casual, light and making me feel really good about wearing it (usually that's why EYMM patterns make it to my faves). This tee particularly comes in 11 different sizes and it fits everyone so good. It has 3 different neck versions, 3 different hems and other finish touches to make it our own. 

Nesta em particular, usei a gola redonda, as mangas normais e a abertura nas costuras laterais. O tecido é uma malha leve, já nem me recordo se a comprei ou se a recebi de uma amiga, muito sinceramente, mas é leve e macia ao toque. Já foi usada imensas vezes e continua em perfeito estado. Quando o tempo começar a aquecer novamente pretendo fazer mais uma ou duas destas, mas por enquanto continua demasiado frio para sequer pensar nisso. 

In this one particularly, I used the crew neck option, plain sleeves and slipt hem. This fabric is a light knit I can't honestly even remember if I bought it or if I got it from a friend, but it is light and soft to the touch. It has been worn over and over and it still looks as good. One more or two are on my plans for whenever it starts to get warmer, for now, it is too cold to even think about it. 

Bespoke Briefs blog tour

Olá a todos!! OMD! Nem acredito que passou tanto tempo desde a última vez que passei por cá. Não tenho tido mesmo vontade nenhuma de costurar, e ainda por cima andei a mudar-me muito devagarinho de uma casa para a outra. 

Hello everyone!! OMG! I can't believe it's been so long since I last posted on the blog. I really haven't been in the mood to sew, and plus I have been busy packing and slowly moving from one house to the other. 

Então, estou de volta, e estou aqui hoje para participar na tour do molde Bespoke Briefs. Como faço tudo no último minuto, só ontem é que acabei as minhas... Mas até é uma coisa boa, prova que o molde é super rápido de fazer e despachei duas cuequinhas que adoro num piscar de olhos. 

Anyway. I am back, and I am here today to be part of the Bespoke Briefs pattern tour. I am always a last minute do-er, and that's why I finished mine the day before my post date... Which is good, because this is a quick project and I wiped up two new knickers to be in love with, in a blink of an eye. 

Ora, o molde é da Thread Faction (e como já toda a gente deve saber, eu adoro a marca), e é incrível como me assentam mesmo bem. Como já disse, fiz duas . Numa usei elástico decorativo no acabamento e na segunda usei as faixas para terminar. Estou com sérias dificuldades em escolher uma favorita das duas.

These knickers pattern is a design from Thread Faction (as you all know by now, I love it), and I can't believe how well they fit me. As I already mention I made two of these. In one I used decorative elastic to finish it, and I used bands on the second. I am now finding it hard to choose a fave from both of them. 

Usei restos de tecidos que usei anteriormente. Tenho uma blusa que combina com as cuecas das riscas, e a minha filha tem uma com o mesmo tecido que fiz mais recentemente. Já com o tecido das borboletas, tinha feito uma t-shirt para a miúda também.

I used scraps I had in my stash from previous projects. I have a matching shirt for the stipped fabric knickers, and my daughter got a shirt with that same fabric more recently. As for the butterflies one, it is also my daughter that has a shirt in the same fabric.

Top 5 of 2017 |REFLECTIONS/GOALS|

Antes de escrever este post fui ler o semelhante dos anos anteriores (de 2013 a 2015), e é engraçado como a maior parte das decisões que tomei, principalmente em 2015 se enquadram naquilo que pensava escrever este ano também. Aparentemente não foi em 2016 que a minha motivação entrou em queda, e sim a meio do ano anterior. Desde então que tenho tido uns altos e baixos, parece até que essa motivação se tornou bipolar. Enfim... Hoje reflito nisso tudo, e vou deixar por escrito o que espero para 2018 no que toca às minhas costuras e a este blog. 

Before I started writting this post, I went back and read the similar ones from previous years (from 2013 to 2015), and it's funny how most of the decisions I made back then are quite similar to what I was going to write this year as well. Apparently it was not in 2016 that my sewing mojo went on holidays, but in the middle of the previous year. Ever since, I had ups and downs, like my mojo has suddenly turned bipolar. Oh well... I reflict on all that today, and I'll write down what I hope for 2018 as for my sewing and blog is concerned. 

#1. Nada de compras!- Este é um dos meus maiores objetivos para o próximo ano. Em 2013 desafiei-me a não comprar mesmo nada a não ser que fosse mesmo, mesmo, mesmo necessário. Desde então tentei manter o hábito mas mais descontraidamente. Durante 2017, não posso dizer que me tenha portado mal, os tecidos acima foram os únicos que comprei (os que já usei têm um "X"), mais dois outros que usei num pufe que fiz para o meu sobrinho, e renda para o soutien, aos quais não tirei foto, ainda assim, dei por mim a comprar alguns tecidos sem necessidade nenhuma, apenas por impulso.  

#1. No buying / Sew from my stash - This is one of my main goals for the next year. Back in 2013 I challenged myself to stop buying unless I really really really needed to. Ever since I tried to keep the habit but in a more relaxed way. Through 2017, I can't say I didn't behave, the fabrics pictured above were the only ones I bough (the ones with the "X" are the ones I used already), plus two other I bought to make my nephew a puff, and the lace for the bra but failed to picture, still, I know I bought a few of these on an impulse, no real need. 

#2. Reciclar/Transformar mais! - Não tenho reciclado tanto este ano, foquei-me mais em baixar a pilha de tecidos que tenho em stock e as roupas que tenho para reaproveitar foram ficando encostadas. Entraram mais algumas para a pilha que me foram dadas, tirei algumas pelas quais já não sentia conexão nenhuma para doar, e agora mais recentemente ainda comprei mais umas peças que encontrei a 1€ cada. Estão na foto acima, e já usei duas delas. Ah! E com isto gostava de dizer que penso trazer o "Refashion Month" de volta. 

#2. More refashioning! - I haven't done it as much this year, I focused on down sizing my fabric stash so the refashioning pile got a bit to the back of my head. A few more pieces were added to my existing pile, I took a few away to donate because I didn't identify with them anymore, but I also more a few more recently, I found them for 1€ each. They are the ones on the above picture, I used two of them already. Oh! I am planning on bringing the "Refashion Month" back.

#3. Publicar o que faço! - Tenho deixado imensas coisas que fiz por publicar. Acho sempre que posso fazer no dia a seguir e depois no outro e nunca chegam ao blog. Tentei contá-las e posso dizer-vos que as peças que nunca chegaram a ser publicadas foram praticamente em mesmo número que aquelas que sim. 

#3. Post what I make! - I've been leaving so many things I made unblogged. I always think I can make it the next day, and then the next and they never make it to here. I tried to count them and I can tell you they are nearly asmany as the ones that did make it to the blog. 

Acabei o pufe a 24 de Dezembro, foi prenda de natal do meu sobrinho e não tinha um fundo de jeito para tirar foto. A gata não ajudou. Foi o possível e não vou stressar por isso.
I finished this puff on the 24th of December, it was a christmas gift and I couldn't find a decent background for it. The cat didn't help either. It was the possible thing to get and I am not stressing over it. 

#4. Ser mais realista! - Naquilo que quero e posso fazer. Naquilo que realmente sou eu e não me deixar levar por aqueles/as que acompanho. Isto tem muito a ver com o ponto anterior, por vezes não publico à espera da melhor luz para fotografar a peça, do melhor isto e aquilo, mas sejamos verdadeiros, não pretendo fazer dinheiro com o blog, se a luz está mais fraca num certo dia, acho que preciso de tirar a foto mesmo assim, senão nunca chego a publicar nada. 

#4. Keep it real! - What I want and what I can achieve. What I really am and not get carried away with others I follow do or say. This is largely related to the previous subject, sometimes I might skip posting while waiting for a better light to get photos taken, best thi and that, but let's keep it real, I'm not planning on getting any profit out of this blog, if the light is bad on a certain day, well lei it be and shoot that photo either way, other wise it might never get to the blog. 

#5. Voltar aos videos! - Talvez não em formato podcast como fiz no passado. A ideia já cá está há imenso tempo, cheguei mesmo a gravar um video (há cerca de um ano, sei-o porque nele ainda aparece a 1ª macaca da G. e está quase a fazer um ano que a perdeu), mas nunca cheguei a editar e como tal muito menos a publicar. A ideia tem andado a martelar com mais insistência ultimamente, por isso devo mentalizar-me e voltar a eles.

#5. Back to videos! - This might only matter to my portuguese readers as I only film in portuguese, but anyway, I am planning on getting back, not on a podcast format though. The idea has been bouncing in my head for about a year now, so I guess it's time to get something done\about it. 

New Pattern Alert: the Bella Bralette and Cami

Há muito tempo que eu andava cheia de vontade de experimentar a fazer um soutien para mim, e a culpa disso deve-se muito à Susana, que me deixou com a pulguinha atrás da orelha quando a conheci pessoalmente em Fevereiro (a sério que daqui a nada faz um ano?!) e me mostrou o seu. Era também o seu primeiro e ela estava tão entusiasmada que me contagiou.

I have been meaning to try and sew myself a bra for a while, I blame it on Susana, she was the one who made the sparkle start when I met her in person back in February (has it really been that long?) and she showed me hers. It was her first too and she was so excited about me that I got carried away too. 

No entanto a vontade permaneceu por cá mas sem nunca surgir a oportunidade de fazer um para mim, até que há algumas semanas deparei-me com um tester call da Jo (Day Dream Patterns) para o seu novo molde Bella Bralette & Cami e sentindo-me motivada lá tentei a minha sorte. Foi à Susana que encomendei a minha renda, linda e tão suave!

Although I wanted to do it I haven't found the oportunity to make one though, until I got across a tester call from Jo (Day Dream Patterns) a few weeks ago, it was for the her new pattern Bella Bralette & Cami and feeling motivated I applied. It was also from Susana that I ordered my lace, so beatiful and soft! 

Adoro o meu novo bralette, por inteiro. Fiquei encantada com o resultado final - afinal isto foi uma novidade para mim - e não me canso de olhar tanto o exterior como o interior, pois também este está com acabamentos tão pro, que dão gosto. Além de que dá suporte, sem o desconforto dos arames. Ando rendida aos bralettes (só tenho mais um, que por acaso comprei uns dias antes de terminar este). E é engraçado como não sinto a falta das copas com enchimento como me habituei a usar, a Susana já me tinha dito isso (ambas temos peito pequeno e conversámos sobre isso), mas eu tinha cá as minhas dúvidas. Miúda, se me lês: estavas certa!!!

I love my new bralette, completely. I was delighted with the final result - after all, this was new to me - and I can't get enough of staring at it, not only from outside, as inside too, since it looks so good and so professionally done, so good. Besides it has a good support it has, even without wires. I have surrendered to bralettes (I onlt have another one I bought just a couple of days before I made my own). And it is funny how I don't miss my usually worned padded cups, Susana had told me that before (we talked about it since we both have small breasts), but I had my doubts. Well girl, if you're reading this: you were right!

Quanto ao molde, tem 25 números e apresenta 3 opções diferentes, esta que fiz que é cruzado na frente, depois há a opção em V e também o cami que pode ser usado em qualquer uma das versões anteriores. A frente é toda forrada com bonitos acabamentos que não deixam costuras visíveis. Agora que olho para a foto da parte de trás do meu, vejo que poderia ter centrado o padrão da renda, nabice pura, nem pensei muito nisso quando cortei. De qualquer forma, já tenho outro cortado na mesa de trabalho, à espera de acabar as costuras loucas de pré natal para o terminar. 

As for the pattern, it comes in 25 sizes, and has 3 different options, the plunge neckline which is the one I made, then there's the V-neckline and also the cami, which you can add to any of the previous options. The front cups are completely lined with nice finishings and no raw edgwa visible. And now that I actually took a good look at my back photo, I realised I could have centered my lace pattern, bahh, I haven't even think of that when cutting. Anyway, I already have another one on my working table, just waiting for the crazy before christmas sewing to be done, to get finished too.

Normalmente coloco sempre as costuras para os miúdos à frente das minhas, o que as recambia para segundo plano. É por isso que sempre que faço algo para mim fico tão feliz, e hoje, mostro não uma mas duas peças que acabaram de entrar no meu roupeiro, com um empurrão da Cozy uUp to Fall tour. So não posso afirmar que as ande a vestir muito porque o Verão esqueceu-se mesmo de ir embora este ano e o calor continua a fazer-se sentir. 

I always put sewing for the kids first, so sewing for myself is kind of a second plan thing. That is one of the reasons why I get so happy everytime I accomplish sewing something for myself, and today, as part of the Cozy Up to Fall tour, I didn't make one but two new pieces that went straight to my wardrobe. I just can't say I've been wearing them a lot because Summer forgot to leave this year and it's been pretty warm still.

Então comecemos com a minha peça preferida, o Piko Top. É uma blusa larga, o que se traduz em muito comforto, o que é tudo nestes dias que correm. Adoro todos os atributos deste molde, a gola simples, que mesmo só dobrada e cosida para dentro continua perfeita, as mangas justas e no meu caso os bicos de lado. 

Let me start with my favorite of both pieces, the Piko Top. A boxy styled shirt, which means extra comfort for me, and that, is all I need these days. I love all the features of this pattern, the simple neckline, which is just folded inside and still looks great, the fitted sleeves and in this case the side tails cut. 

Comprei este tecido há uns anos e durante todo este tempo pensei qm fazer precisamente uma blusa deste genero com ele. Só é pena ter demorado tanto porque adorei o resultado. Não poderia ter escolhido outro que fosse melhor para este projeto que pede um bom cair. É um tanto transparente, mas já contava com sobreposições, e como tal, está tudo bem. 

I bought this fabric a couple of years ago and all this time I was saving it for this kind of shirt precisely. Too bad I had to wait this long to finally get it done because I so love it. I found it to be perfect for this project though, with its drapey character. It is also see through but that's fine, I was counting on layering anyway. 

Então, o molde vem nos tamanhos XS-XL e Plus Size 1X-5X, e ainda inclui instruções para alterar se necessário. Podem também encontrar opções multiplas de mangas e bainhas, e costumizar como desejado. Eu fiz a opção dos bicos de lado, e as mangas compridas, mas também encontram curtas e a 3/4. A bainha pode ser ainda direita ou estilo hi-low. 

So, this pattern comes in sizes XS-XL and Plus Size 1X-5X, plus includes custom fit instructions to adjust if necessary. You can also find multiple sleeve and hem options to costumise it as you wish. I choose the side tails look and the long sleeves version but there's a short and 3/4 sleeves too. The hem can also be a regular one or hi-low styled. 

Eu não alterei em nada e gostei do resultado. Ainda ponderei no início se deveria encurtar ou não na altura mas depois segui com o molde sem alterar. Está um pouco comprido para top, mas curto demais para túnica, anda ali pelo meio, e funciona perfeitamente assim para mim. 

I made no adjusts and feel pretty happy with it. I first wondered if I should or not cut off some lenght and make it shorter, but then I just decided to go ahead and get it done as is. It's a bit too long I guess, but it's there just in between a top an da tunic and that's just perfect for me.

Estava vento, é verdade, por isso o casaco estava a esvoaçar, mas não foi por isso que estava a esconder a cara (e a rir-me na próxima foto) e sim porque os miúdos estavam a atirar-me com folhas secas, se olharem bem, dá para ver algumas. Enfim... deixem-me contar-vos mais sobre a minha segunda nova peça preferida, esta claro. É versátil, fácil e rápida de costurar - especialmente porque saltei a parte de costurar as baínhas |e não me arrependo! ah!| - e além disso, o cair fluído dá-lhe um ar super estiloso e a mim também (que é raro, ando sempre de calças de ganga e blusas simples).

It was a bit windy here, hence the cardigan floating, but the real reason I was hiding my face (and laughing in the next photo) is my kids were throwing dead leaves on me, you can see some if you pay attention. Anyway... I should tell you about my next fave thing, this cardigan of course. Versatile, easy and fast to sew - especially because I skipped all the hemming |and I don't regret it! ah!| - and to top it all, looks at how it drapes and how stylish I look (which I don't do often, always in my jeans and plain shirts). 

Usei apenas 3 peças neste molde. Sim, não vou mentir, são imensas páginas para colar mas vale a pena. O tempo gasto nessa tarefa é compensado com a rapidez com que se costura a peça. E mais, o molde vem com mais opções. O capuz é opcional, e são cinco as opções de mangas disponíveis, e duas alturas diferentes.

This is a 3 piece pattern you're looking into. Yes, I won't lie to you, get ready to tape a lot of pages, but it's so worth it. All the time you spend on that task is payed with the little time you need to actually sew it all together. And there's more than one option here too. You get to do a hooded or no hood at all version, you can choose from 5 sleeves options and there's two lenghts available too. 

Olhem só as riscas certinhas nas costuras, mesmo sem ter tentado!! =D Aqui outro tecido que guardei durante mais do que deveria. Tenho quase a certeza que os mandei vir a ambos na mesma encomenda. Não deixa de ser engraçado que tenha acabado por os usar a ambos ao mesmo tempo também. Sempre adorei este, e ainda o apanhei umas vezes enquanto procurava tecidos para fazer umas peças para os miúdos, mas acabei sempre por devolvê-los ao sítio porque queria-o mesmo para mim.

Look at that! Matching stripes, even when you«re not trying to!! =D Another fabric I was keeping for longer than I should have. I am almost sure I bought both of these fabric in the same order. It's kinda funny that I get to use them at the same time too. I've always loved it so much, I actually grabbed it from my shelves a few times, when they would have been perfect for any kids project I was working on, but I was so determined to make something for me out of it, that I always went back and restore it to its place, I really wanted it for myself.
