Earth Day |Billie Jeans for her|

Scroll down for english, please.

It is Earth Day today. We had a late get up in the morning today. Dressed the kids and took them to the beach. That little piece of heaven had no one else there but us. The kids played in the sand, it felt good to see them enjoying theirselves. The sun was warm and it wasn't too windy as usually lately.

Because it is Earth Day today, and we´re still celebrating Fashion Revolution Week, I dressed my kids fully mommy made. Well, I had to put on a RTW jacket to the little one because he doesn't have any made by me (yet!). He wore this outfit, only now it fits him perfectly. She wore this shirt, this jacket and the jeans I mentioned in my previous post. * and yes, if you went and checked the link, I made it back in 2014 and still fits, or I want it to fit, I think this might have been the last timeshe wore it though...

Not only were these pieces handmade, they were all refashioned as well. His outfit was born from 3 women t-shirts. Her shirts come from a knit sheet, and her jacket from velvet women pants. The pants she's wearing, are refashioned as well, and it's about them that I am here to blog about.

For a start, I used Billie Jeans pattern (Momma Quail Patterns), and they were made still in the test phase. I made her size 5 and I was amazed by the end. They fit perfectly. I chose the same features I did for her brother's, skinny fit and ankle lenght.

The fabric I used came from a women's jeans, and they weren't as stretchy as the ones I used to make S's pair, in good truth they had almost no stretch at all, so it was a risk I took, of course. First I thought they would be too tight and difficult movement, but not really after all. They were just great. Another pattern from Amy that I approve and recommend.

September Wrap Up

Scroll down for english, please!

As coisas andaram praticamente paradas aqui no blog.

Things have been really slow around this blog, it was lack of will + disponibility + time for it, my S. is a true hurricanne. His sis wasn't like that at all and it's been hard for me to follow such rythm in order to be able to do any of my stuff. For that reason, I have been feeling a bit more frustrated than usual, so I was blown away and cut my long hair, which-I-never-cut, really really short. September still smells like holidays (G. only started preschool on the 21st), and we had enough time for a lot. A birthday, a wedding, a lot of playing in parks, fun, good family and friends moments. G. recieved her two friends from the previous school for a playdate and she loved it. She was also requested to 3 other playdates. There was a lot of pretend play, where we ate big breakfasts, and her doll and crocodile celebrated a wedding too. S. climbs everything he reaches. G. slept for the first time, without her security bars. I lost three days trying to organize their clothes as time is changing. My G. has more shoes than an entire shop. At the wedding, she was burnt by a cigarette (she's fine now!). I haven't been sewing much, but at least I was able to grow my granny squares blanket, although not as much as last month.

When it comes to the blog, it has been really off. Apart from the August wrap up post, there were only two more, my attempt to make a few of the pins I selected from Pinterest, and the dress I made for G. to wear at my cousins wedding. Click the photos to take you to the original post.

Prometo um Outubro mais activo por aqui.

I promess a more active October around here.

July Wrap Up

Scroll down for english, please!

July was a busy month. A very, very busy month with a lot of partying. It started the 2nd with my baby boy's first birthday. Then, on the 5th we celebrated his and his big sister's birthdays in a rainbow themed party. Everyone thought it was all the about the gay pride (which was all over facebook back then), but although we support equal rights for all human beings, the rainbow party was decided long before that. The next weekend, we had a wedding to go to on Saturday and another birthday party from a friend on Sunday. The 17th was G.'s end of school party, with the White Night themed, I told you about before. On th 26th was the hubby's birthday (yes, all my loves have their birthdays in a row) but because he was working we only celebrated it on the 28th, which was actually my niece's birthday too. We didn't celebrate hers that day though, she was at a camp. We did a lot of beach, had dinner at an Italian restaurant, G. got a new bike. I love watching my kids sleep and S. does it in very funny ways. He's crawling so fast (and G. crawls with him), and he's standing although he has to hold to something yet.

I've kept my distance when it comes to blogging. I was here everyday, but I wasn't at the same time. I have focused on being out with my kids, have meals ready for my father who's been staying with us for over a month already, and sewing wasn't just one of my priorities lately. There were days when I'd sat before my supplies, or the sewing machine (I usually stand, but my legs have been too heavy because of the heat and I have to sit) and just didn't feel it. Thanks for my guests, Refashion Month kept the blog active, and posts coming. We had - again - a lot of inspiration coming and great tips shared. You can check all the posts HERE, or just click the links below for specific days.

As I always do, I too particiated in the series, and those were my contribution:

Apart from hosting Refashion Month, I had the pleasure to join other series and a tour. I was part of the Savings Made by Sewing series with some tips on saving in patterns. I shared a tutorial in my own blog, and a full post over Dana's blog. I was also part of the S is for Sewing E-book tour, and I got to make two clutches and a very fun t-shirt.

May Wrap Up

Scroll down for english, please!

Nós no parque. 1º de Maio e caracóis. Já começou a época de praia! Puzzles, sempre. Ela querida pelos primos. Fiz outras manualidades. Testei a Timmy Top. Ele já come finger foods.

This month I have dedicated less time to sewing and much more to the other stuff in my life. I've assumed the compromise of spending more quality time with my children, and although I'm not quite yet satisfied enough, looking back at this month's happy moments photos, I felt like I am in the right path. In the photos: G. loved being a ballerina and doing big kids activities (labyrinths, differences, etc). She brushes his hair. Us in the park. 1st of May and snails. Beach season has began! Puzzles, always. She's loved by her cousins. I made other crafts. i tested the Timmy Top. He's eating finger foods already. Things have been really slow around here. To be honest I've been feeling overwhelmed by it all (tests, tours, deadlines...) and I needed to step back a little. After that, I've been reading more and more blogger complaining about the same. Seems like this is no longer fun enough for all of us. But I believe it's just a season for me, I truly can't get away from my blog, so I slowed down, but I am not going anywhere. She feeds him his milk in the morning. I tested the Morocco pants. I bought myself a pair of new shoes for a wedding.

And as for the blog, here's the posts from May. You can click on each picture for details on each project.

I was part of the Women's Bundle Up Tour with the Clemence Shorts by Filles à Maman and the Myconos Tankini Collection by Golden Riply. I shared a couple of crafts with a few months done already, two baby bibs, a breastfeeding pillow and a baby Sling. I got to participate in the Top Stitchers Challenge and I proudly shared 5 new pieces in one post. After that, I shared the Summer Surprise pattern by Sofilantjes on her 1st anniversary tour, and to finish I got to be part of the fun Mystery Challenge with a dress inspired in the Fall of the Berlin Wall.

Around the World Blog Hop

My dear friend Patrícia from Pequeno Mundo a 3, invited me to be part of the blog hop nearly a month ago. I was so busy back then, and then got so distracted that I haven't posted it until today. This reminds me, that many  many months ago (August?!), Pam from Threading My Way had also contacted me to take part of a blog hop, but although I said yes, I never did! Bad bad girl! =(

Anyway, Patrícia has became a great friend in the last couple of month, I am sure you'll love her blog full of beautiful photos, sewing projects, and a lot of love. Pam is already well known here in this little blog of mine, right? She's a great refashionista and a very giving person. Thank you both for thinking of me.

I am supposed to answer a few questions, so here we go...

What am I working on?
At this moment I have a few things going on. I am finishing two baby doll acessories but I can't tell much about it yet, I need to add buttons to a dress and I just printed a new pattern for a tour.

How does my work differ from others in its genre?
I don't know really. I don't look at my work as something very different or original. I refashion, that's what I do, what I like to do. Maybe that's the main thing that differs from others.

Why do I create what I do?
I've started sewing for myself because I couldn't afford the expensive corset and fancy fabric clothes I loved so much. Then it just grew on me. When I became a mother I discovered a new world inside the sewing world I was already so attached to. I sew for my kids because I love to as a start. But it also helps me to save and keep my sanity since I became a SAHM.

How does my creative process work?
If often starts with a pattern or a piece or fabric (usually clothes from my refashioning pile). I usually start from there and usually grows (the idea, details, etc) as I go.

Now I should nominee two bloggers and they are....
Diana from Miss Castelinhos
because I'd love to get to know them better! ;)

February Wrap Up

My monthly wrap up is back after a two month break. You might have noticed that I also skipped the weekly glimpses... I forgot to share it the first week, and then I just went on with it. I made a monthly collage for you guys though, with bits and parts of our month.

February was a busy month. There were Carnival parades, the first one was the one from G.'s school, where the kids helped making their own owl costume. Then we visited two more parades that week, as I already told you here. I've cooked some of G.'s favourites, and did a few fun experiences too. We had those pancakes for lunch, on a lazy day, the two of us, with chocolate topping. I got to sew a few pieces and we had fun in our photo sessions. We visited parks, and the beach as usual. G. had a playdate with her bestfriend. S. jumps like crazy in his jumper. We had plummers fixing something, finally. A friend sent my daughter some pink tulle and I made her a tutu, she wore it over her pajamas and felt so happy about it. S. is growing and he is able to do a bunch of things on his own, such as holding his own water bottle and drink from it. He already has two theeth too, so cute.

As for the blog, I changed the banner (again) and made a few changes, such as adding a back to top button, centered the pages and the titles of the posts. Did you notice that? Looking back at what I made and blogged about, I am happy to see all these posts.

I started the month as part of the girls bundle up tour, with three pattern reviews, the Phresh blazer, the Freestyle pants and the Adelaine cardigan. Click photos to get you to full post. Then I sewed along with Kids Clothes Week and I was able to sew and blog for 6 days in a row, then I just felt exausted and missed the last day. Apart from the pieces in the photos (an outfit for S. self drafted pants and Rowan tee, and the Phresh blazer for G.'s friend), I've also started two dresses, and a Mara blouse. I haven't blogged about them yet but one dress is done and the other is only missing some buttons, and the Mara will be blogged about tomorrow.

I was also able to blog about pieces I made in the past year or even way back in the past, as the vampire costume/medieval dress my niece wore for Carnival. From last year, I shared a Bumblebee dress, little girl's briefs and I brought back a guest post inspired in Victora Plum's books (last photo).

The other new pieces I shared were the upcycle of the costume S. wore, the Cinderella costume for G. and the mom & daughter matching shirts for the Extraordinary Girl pattern tour.

Busy, busy, busy... as I told you!

Glimpse of our last week #28

This is where I show you bits and parts of our week behind the scenes.

With both kids sick, we spent this week mainly in doors. G. made me a neckless out of my tape and took the photo. My mother made her doll a new outfit and sent it through my dad. she missed grandma. A dear friend sent G. some pink tulle through mail, I made something out of it already. G. loves to cut paper, she can spend hours doing that. I am so glad that I can see the sea through my wondow, it's not much, but enough to enjoy the place I live in. S. has had fever, but he's much better now, firth tooth is out. I shoot my cats, I didn't for so long. And, there's been a few new items in the sewing table... three of them will be revealed tomorrow.

Glimpse of our last week #27

This is where I show you bits and parts of our week behind the scenes.

A lovely week I'd say. Even though it is way too cold over here, we have enjoyed a few family moments, which warms up my heart. We spent a morning in the beach - how I love to be close to it and visit it in winter, even more than in summer. G. enjoyed being allowed to step into the water. She has also skipped school on dad's free day and we visited Portimão. We did some shopping too, and we got to see the rainbow on our way back. G. loves rainbows, she was just amazed to see a real one. V. has a, eye infection and had to go to the ER because of it, it's lasting too long and was getting worst. He's on new meds now and finally feeling better. I used Aloe Vera to style my babies hair... we had some fun that day! When G. saw her fruit that day she told me "MOM, that fruit is so cute!", then she ate it all. She loves to draw following dots. I found MY Barbie dolls and was devastated because my favourite one had a broken arm =(

And just in case you've missed it... there was something fun in the blog too.

click the link to each day to see what my guests refashioned!

Glimpse of our last week #26

This is where I show you bits and parts of our week behind the scenes.

Another week into 2015. Is it just me or week after week, time seems to fly by quicker and quicker?!
Anyway... I didn't do much sewing... just two little items requested by my daughter. It was more about my family, and my house, which makes me happy. S. was on a swing for the first time, and all he could do was staring at his sister by his side. It was my dad's birthday so we headed to Spain to surprise him, had dinner and came back the same night.
