Orbis Skinny Harem Pants (#4)

Oi-oi a todos! Estamos a meio do primeiro mês de 2019 e estou muito feliz por ter costurado já uma das coisas na minha lista pessoal. O meu miúdos vive em calças confortáveis, é extremamente activo... mas, é baixinho e magro, por isso as calças ou lhe ficam demasiado curtas para servir na cintura, ou demasiado largas na cintura para servir no comprimento. 

Hey all! We're half way though the first month of 2019 and I am pretty happy that I have already sewed one of the things I wrote down on my personal sewing to do's. My boy lives in comfy pants, he is too much active... but he's short and slim so pants are either too short to fit on the waist or too baggy on the waist to fit on height. 

Não tenho costurado tanto para os miúdos como fazia há uns anos, mas este ano gostava de voltar a comprar menos roupa (embora já o tenha feito!Shhh!), então estou a ver se me concentro em voltar a costurar para eles... e mais! Para esta peça, não só voltei a costurar para eles como voltei também à reutilização. Pff, tentei lembrar-me há quanto tempo o tinha feito pela última vez, mas não consigo. Estou feliz por tê-lo feito agora, e para isso usei uma camisola XXL que comprei por 1€ num mercado de velharias o ano passado. Era bem quentinha e queria transformá-la em algo para os miúdos. Na altura penso que até idealizei um hoodie. 

I haven't been sewing as much for my kids as I did a couple of years ago, but I'd like to buy less clothes this year (though I have already! Shhhh!), so I am focusing in getting back to sewing lots of clothes for them... or more! For this one, I did not only got back to sewing for them, as I got back to refashioning. Gosh, I've been trying to remember but I can't, I can't recall what was the last thing I refashioned before this one. I'm glad I did now, and for that I used a XXL sweater I bought for 1€ or less in a thrift market last year. It was pretty warm and I wanted to make something for the kids with it. I think I first thought of a hoodie back then. 

Ó céus, é mesmo giro! Usei o molde Orbis Skinny Harem da Sofilantjes Patterns. Fiz-lhe o tamanho 3 porque deu-me a preguiça para traçar o 4, uma vez que já tinha o 3 dos calções que fiz no ano passado. Pensei mesmo que iriam ficar melhor. Ele normalmente veste um 3 na maior parte das peças de compra. Ok, o tecido também não tinha lá grande elasticidade o que poderá ter ajudado a ficarem ainda mais apertadinhas, mas mesmo em altura não deixaram espaço para crescer. O que significa que estas podem não servir por muito tempo. Tudo bem ainda assim. Serei um pouco menos preguiçosa para a próxima - eventualmente. 

Gosh, he's cute! This is the Orbis Skinny Harem from Sofilantjes Patterns. I made him a size 3 because I  was lazy to trace the pattern in size 4, since I had the pattern ready from the shorts I made him last year. I truly thought they would fit better. Usually he wears 3 in most RTW. Ok, the fabric wasn't all that stretch so it might have made it even skinnier, but even in height they don't have any room to grow, at all. Which means these may not last for too long. That's fine though. I'll be a little less lazy next time - eventually. 

Então dizia eu, que lhe fiz um tamanho , na versão calças desde vez, devido ao tempo, claro. No entanto fiz uma pequena alteração no molde. O original traz estes bolsos únicos e super originais numa peça única de trás para a frente, como podem ver nas minhas primeiras duas versões do molde (vejam as fotos no fim do post para mais). Em vez desses bolsos, fiz-lhe bolsos simples na frente e pespontei com um ponto decorativo, tal como fiz nas laterais das pernas (que creio que não se vê em nenhuma das fotos que tirámos - se calhar só um bocadinho na foto acima).

So, I made a size 3, pants version this time because weather, but I have hacked the pattern on the shorts. The original has these very unique and original pockets from the back to the front, as you can see in my first two previous versions of the pattern (check the bottom of this post to see more). Instead of those, I made him simple front pocket and topstitched them with a decorative stitch, as well as the legs side seams (which I don't think you can see in any of the photos we took - maybe a bit on the one above). 

As calças foram completamente feitas a partir da frente e trás da camisola original e ainda tenho as mangas. Talvez as use noutras calças, também para ele, com um molde super divertido que testei no ano passado e que também ainda não publiquei. Mas se as fizer, prometo, venho logo publicar!

The entire pants were made out of the front and back pieces of the original shirt and I still have the huge sleeves left. I might use them in another pants for him, with this fun pattern I tested last year but haven't posted yet, either. But, if I do, it's a promise, I will post right away!

Rival Raglan Tunic

Oh, estou tão determinada em publicar todas as minhas peças feitas, fotografadas mas nunca publicadas do passado! Hoje trago uma túnica que fiz no início deste ano que já está para terminar. Lá para Março publiquei o vestido que fiz para a minha filha com o molde rival raglan dress da GYCT. Na mesma altura fiz também uma outra versão do molde, como prenda de aniversário para a filha de uma amiga. A miúda adora o Jack Skellington e eu queria fazer-lhe algo dentro do tema. 

Oh I am so determined on posting about my made, photographed and never posted pieces from the past! Today I am sharing a tunic I made in the beggining of this now ending year. Back in March, I posted about the rival raglan dress by GYCT that I made for my daughter. Also back then I sewed another version of the pattern for a friend's daughter as a birthday gift. The little girl loves Jack Skellington and I wanted to make her something with the theme. 

Bordei a cara do Jack na parte da frente do vestido. Demorou-me mais isso do que costurar todo o vestido, tal como aconteceu com a aplicação do primeiro rival raglan que fiz... e tal qual, valeu tanto a pena, não podia estar mais satisfeita. Os meus miúdos gostaram tanto também que me fizeram prometer que lhes faria umas t-shirts com o Jack Skellington também, promessa que ainda não cumpri. 

I embroidered Jack's head into the front of the dress. It took much longer than putting the dress together, as it happen with the appliqué I made on my first rival raglan... but it was so much worth it. I couldn't love it better. My kids loved it so much as well that they both made me promise I'd make them both a Jack Skellington shirt too - promise I have fail to keep yet. 

Queria mesmo usar as cores que usei, mas não tinha nenhum tecido com o roxo. Claro que tive de fazer o que faço melhor e usar uma peça pré-amada, meter tesoura e transformá-la nesta nova peça. O tecido das mangas, saia e colarinho foi o que sobrou de um dos meus mais afdorados vestidos, feitos por mim (aqui). 

I really wanted to use the colors I did, but I didn't have any of the purple fabric available. Of course, I then turned out to what I do best and used a previously loved piece to cut and use in this new one. The fabric for the sleeves, skirt and collar band were leftovers from one of my all time self-sewn fave dresses (here). 

Desta vez fiz as mangas a 3/4 e a opção túnica, em vez de vestido. A miúda mora longe e para ter a certeza que lhe serviria, se não na altura, mais tarde então, fiz-lhe um número acima (em relação À idade), pelo sim pelo não. Aparentemente, tanto a mãe como a filha (e o pai) adoraram, o que me deixou bastante feliz de saber. 

This time I did the 3/4 sleeves option and tunic instead of dress lenght. Because the girl does not live close I made her a bigger size (according to her age) so I could be safe it would fit, if not yet, than a bit later. Apparently, both mom and daughter (and father) loved it, which made my day when I heard. 

Thread Faction #123 Pattern Tour

I am joining Liz from Thread Faction for her Sewing Knit Basics pattern tour. Today I am sharing my take on her new pattern #123 Girls Tank and Pants. 

The Tank n Pants Set was a winner in our house. I asked my daughter if I could try it on hr when I finished and she immediately asked me if she could sleep in it (it was about bed time) and of course I said yes. She loves these sets and I love to sew them for her. I see a few more in a near future coming out of my sewing machine. 

So. My kiddo's measurements put her on a straight 7 and I am happy with it although I think the bottom piece was a bit baggy on her. It allows to grow though which is something I always appreciate on a me made anyway. And, it is still comfortable she says, so all good here. 

The set is made of two pieces, top and knickers, it comes in sizes 2-10, has an optional gusset - which I did by the way - and it is a begginer's friendly pattern, just, so you know. It is another quick and easy sew, just what I need to get back into sewing. 

The main fabric from the top was given to me by my friend Patrícia, when she downsized her stash. The green one I used from the bottom of some launge pants my sister bought for me. They were new but she got it for me, not to wear as she knows I wouldn't wear anything with this lettuce colour on, but because it was a lot of knit for a little amount of money and I could refashion them. I love my sister (she got me two of these).

Apparently this is perfect to sleep in... except she was pretending to do so in my bed, instead of going to her own. Anyway, if you liked it and you got the pattern or are planning on it, make sure to follow Liz's Thread Faction Sewn Series on youtube, here's her first episode for you. 

OT18 |Hickory and Spice Henley|

One Thimble 18 is out and I got to sew along for the releasing blog tour. I was so happy to find a boy pattern that I loved and fits right into the style I like to sew for my little one. Actually, this issue - as always - comes with a bunch of cute patterns, but I'll admit both of my favorite ones are boy patterns. 

So, yes! I got to sew the Hickory and Spice Henley, a pattern by Orange Daisy Patterns. It's the first time I sew anything from this brand and I was happily impressed. I believe I may have mention my love for notches on patterns, haven't I? A designer that goes a little further and adds the right notches to their patterns has my full respect! And that's what happened when I got to work with this pattern. So many notches, and such nice, detailed instructions/ilustrations. 

I made a straight size 3 for my boy and it fits him so well, I was surprised, he's usually a little bit under that. This boy is extremely hard to photograph because all he wants to do, all the time is run, run, and then run some more. If not running then rolling on the grass will do (as picture below confirms). I did get a few nicer shots, but it was me and hubby shooting at the same time, and sister trying to help, and we took hundreds of them, one of us would get a nice one, right?!

I just love everything about this one. It's been a while since I felt this happy about anything I made. It is true. I love the design, I love the henley closure, which by the way is the second one I made - ever - and went so much better than the first, I guess the tip shared for less bulk was a great one. 

I used snaps as closure but you can use buttons or anything else, there are a few suggestions included in the pattern. I just figures it'd be easier for us, everything has to be extra quick with this little man here. 

My fabric was refashioned from an old shirt I got from my cousin, in a huge pile of clothes. It was fully lined and I loved the lining so much I kept this for a few years, sitting there, waiting for the right project to come along. The outer piece was quite damaged, because it had been worn for work, but the lining was quite fine. I used the lining body to make the new shirt, and for the sleeves I used the outer sleeves for a bit of color blocking (this pattern is great for that by the way, with the shoulders detail and the placket, also a ruffle hem in the girls options). 

I feel like I need to make him one in all the sleeve options available, and also make the girl's version for his sister. Ajaire made the cutest one for her daughter and got me inspired to sew my daughter one too. I will probably do mine in very different colors, but I still find that one so cute! OH, and remember how I said my two favorite patterns were boy ones? Well, I got to test another pattern featured in the magazine. It was the Super Tough Jeans by Suco by Susana and I SO LOVE THEM. Why didn't I blog it though? Well, the size range of those starts at size 3, and since I tested it in an early stage, a few months ago, size 3 was a bit too big on my tiny 3 year old. I haven't tried it on him lately, but I have to, and if they fit, be sure I'll be posting about it too.

Antes de escrever este post fui ler o semelhante dos anos anteriores (de 2013 a 2015), e é engraçado como a maior parte das decisões que tomei, principalmente em 2015 se enquadram naquilo que pensava escrever este ano também. Aparentemente não foi em 2016 que a minha motivação entrou em queda, e sim a meio do ano anterior. Desde então que tenho tido uns altos e baixos, parece até que essa motivação se tornou bipolar. Enfim... Hoje reflito nisso tudo, e vou deixar por escrito o que espero para 2018 no que toca às minhas costuras e a este blog. 

Before I started writting this post, I went back and read the similar ones from previous years (from 2013 to 2015), and it's funny how most of the decisions I made back then are quite similar to what I was going to write this year as well. Apparently it was not in 2016 that my sewing mojo went on holidays, but in the middle of the previous year. Ever since, I had ups and downs, like my mojo has suddenly turned bipolar. Oh well... I reflict on all that today, and I'll write down what I hope for 2018 as for my sewing and blog is concerned. 

#1. Nada de compras!- Este é um dos meus maiores objetivos para o próximo ano. Em 2013 desafiei-me a não comprar mesmo nada a não ser que fosse mesmo, mesmo, mesmo necessário. Desde então tentei manter o hábito mas mais descontraidamente. Durante 2017, não posso dizer que me tenha portado mal, os tecidos acima foram os únicos que comprei (os que já usei têm um "X"), mais dois outros que usei num pufe que fiz para o meu sobrinho, e renda para o soutien, aos quais não tirei foto, ainda assim, dei por mim a comprar alguns tecidos sem necessidade nenhuma, apenas por impulso.  

#1. No buying / Sew from my stash - This is one of my main goals for the next year. Back in 2013 I challenged myself to stop buying unless I really really really needed to. Ever since I tried to keep the habit but in a more relaxed way. Through 2017, I can't say I didn't behave, the fabrics pictured above were the only ones I bough (the ones with the "X" are the ones I used already), plus two other I bought to make my nephew a puff, and the lace for the bra but failed to picture, still, I know I bought a few of these on an impulse, no real need. 

#2. Reciclar/Transformar mais! - Não tenho reciclado tanto este ano, foquei-me mais em baixar a pilha de tecidos que tenho em stock e as roupas que tenho para reaproveitar foram ficando encostadas. Entraram mais algumas para a pilha que me foram dadas, tirei algumas pelas quais já não sentia conexão nenhuma para doar, e agora mais recentemente ainda comprei mais umas peças que encontrei a 1€ cada. Estão na foto acima, e já usei duas delas. Ah! E com isto gostava de dizer que penso trazer o "Refashion Month" de volta. 

#2. More refashioning! - I haven't done it as much this year, I focused on down sizing my fabric stash so the refashioning pile got a bit to the back of my head. A few more pieces were added to my existing pile, I took a few away to donate because I didn't identify with them anymore, but I also more a few more recently, I found them for 1€ each. They are the ones on the above picture, I used two of them already. Oh! I am planning on bringing the "Refashion Month" back.

#3. Publicar o que faço! - Tenho deixado imensas coisas que fiz por publicar. Acho sempre que posso fazer no dia a seguir e depois no outro e nunca chegam ao blog. Tentei contá-las e posso dizer-vos que as peças que nunca chegaram a ser publicadas foram praticamente em mesmo número que aquelas que sim. 

#3. Post what I make! - I've been leaving so many things I made unblogged. I always think I can make it the next day, and then the next and they never make it to here. I tried to count them and I can tell you they are nearly asmany as the ones that did make it to the blog. 

Acabei o pufe a 24 de Dezembro, foi prenda de natal do meu sobrinho e não tinha um fundo de jeito para tirar foto. A gata não ajudou. Foi o possível e não vou stressar por isso.
I finished this puff on the 24th of December, it was a christmas gift and I couldn't find a decent background for it. The cat didn't help either. It was the possible thing to get and I am not stressing over it. 

#4. Ser mais realista! - Naquilo que quero e posso fazer. Naquilo que realmente sou eu e não me deixar levar por aqueles/as que acompanho. Isto tem muito a ver com o ponto anterior, por vezes não publico à espera da melhor luz para fotografar a peça, do melhor isto e aquilo, mas sejamos verdadeiros, não pretendo fazer dinheiro com o blog, se a luz está mais fraca num certo dia, acho que preciso de tirar a foto mesmo assim, senão nunca chego a publicar nada. 

#4. Keep it real! - What I want and what I can achieve. What I really am and not get carried away with others I follow do or say. This is largely related to the previous subject, sometimes I might skip posting while waiting for a better light to get photos taken, best thi and that, but let's keep it real, I'm not planning on getting any profit out of this blog, if the light is bad on a certain day, well lei it be and shoot that photo either way, other wise it might never get to the blog. 

#5. Voltar aos videos! - Talvez não em formato podcast como fiz no passado. A ideia já cá está há imenso tempo, cheguei mesmo a gravar um video (há cerca de um ano, sei-o porque nele ainda aparece a 1ª macaca da G. e está quase a fazer um ano que a perdeu), mas nunca cheguei a editar e como tal muito menos a publicar. A ideia tem andado a martelar com mais insistência ultimamente, por isso devo mentalizar-me e voltar a eles.

#5. Back to videos! - This might only matter to my portuguese readers as I only film in portuguese, but anyway, I am planning on getting back, not on a podcast format though. The idea has been bouncing in my head for about a year now, so I guess it's time to get something done\about it.

Minha gente, acaba de sair um novo molde pelo qual fiquei encantada. É o Dress Up Hoodie da Mouse House Creations é é qualquer coisa de especial. Além de que é perfeito para esta altura do ano, para quem gosta de festejar o Halloween. Mesmo que ainda não tenham costurado um fato para os miúdos, não se preocupem, este molde pode-vos salvar. 

People, there's a new pattern out there that got me amazed. It is the Dress Up Hoodie from Mouse House Creations and it really is something special. Just perfect for this Halloween season. Even if you're running behind with a costume, don't panic, this pattern might save you. 

O meu piolho tem de se mascarar dia 31 na escolinha e eu não tinha nada para ele até há dois dias, quando acabei este novo hoodie. Escolhi fazer a versão "morcego" para ele e ficou bem melhor do que eu esperava. Como não me dava tempo de encomendar uma malha à medida para este projeto, e preta como um pequeno morcego pede, acabei por usar o que tinha à mão. O que uma vez terminado, veio reforçar a minha ideia de que a nossa criatividade se apura sempre que temos de improvisar. Modéstia à parte, tornei-me muito boa nisso. 

I live in Portugal and we don't celebrate Halloween as people do in the USA, for example, but kids get to wear spooky costumes at school, and teens are actually doing trick or treat too for these past few years, first they were very shy, just a few, but now we hear them out all the time. The bad thing is that they do a lot of nasty stuff with the "halloween" excuse. Anyway... my boy needed a costume to wear at school next tuesday, and I had zero until two days ago when I finished this hoodie. I chose to make the "bat" for him and it got even better than I hoped for. I knew I didn't have the time to order the right knit for this project, in color and type, as a bat deserves, I just worked with what I had. Once finished, it just reinforced my belief that creativity improves every time you're forced to improvise. And modesty to the paret, I became pretty good at that. 

Mas continuando, usei uma malha mais fina, que em tempos foi uma fronha de almofada XXL, e que já tinha usado parte anteriormente. Não é completamente branca embora assim parece nas fotos, tiradas ao fim da tarde, numa luta contra o pôr do sol, e quase em desespero porque 1º não se queria virar para a máquina, depois não queria o capucho na cabeça, e só para irritar depois já não queria nada, até pediu para tirar o hoodie e tudo. Sempre foi do contra, fazer o quê? E olhem que ele delirou quando viu a peça... até gritou BATMANNNNN. Ainda conseguimos algumas que d´´a para vos mostrar os detalhes da peça, por isso já me dou por satisfeita. 

And on we go, I used a light knit, that was a XXL pillow cover, and which I had used a piece of a while ago. It is not totally white as it seems to be in these pictures, taking late in the afternoon, in a duel with the sunset, and almost in despair because this kid didn't want to stare at the camera first, then he didn't want to have the hood on his head and to finish, he just didn't want to wear it at all asking us to take it off. He's always been this way, what can I do? Believe me when I say he actually liked it a lot when he saw it... he even screamed BATMANNNNN. We did get a few shots though, which I think are just enough to show you the details. 

O molde é composto por vários animais, uns com capas, asas, unicórnios, caudas, orelhinhas, enfim... é muita fofura junta, e a mais velha também já fez o seu pedido. Para este usei o molde base do hoodie, dispensei o bolso da frente e em vez disso, desenhei (a olho mesmo) um morcego num papel, cortei-o em flanela (o que se revelou uma óptima opção, já que a flanela aderiu bem à malha, dando-lhe estabilidade e facilitando a sua aplicação - feita com um ponto zigue-zague muito pequenino). Usei as orelhas e asas de morcego, estas últimas são costuradas nas mangas, para as quais usei também a flanela. Era o único tecido preto na minha coleção que me pareceu indicado. 

The pattern is made out of several different animals, some have capes, wings, horns, tails, hears, as so... it's too much cuteness altogether, and my oldest has requested her own as well. For this specific one, I used the basic hoodie, skipped the front pocked and instead I free hand drafted a bat in a papel, then cut it on flannel (which was a great option, since it adhered to the knit nicely, give it some stability and making the sewing task much easier - applied with a very small zig zag stitch). I used the bat ears and wings, this last one is sewed to the sleeves, and I used flannel for them too. This was the only fabric in my stash that seemed appropriate for the project. 

Adoro ver as asas a abrir e a fechar conforme ele mexe os braços. Ainda pensei que se poderia tornar desconfortável quando ele os estica mais para a frente, mas aparentemente isso não acontece, pelo menos não se queixou. As nossas orelhinhas não se aguentam de pé, muito possivelmente porque o tecido não tem corpo suficiente para se manter, ainda assim não deixar de ser super fofas. Agora, penso que devia ter usado preto para os dois lados, frente e trás. Ah, e os punhos são reciclados de hoodies de adulto. 

I love to see the wings moving as he opens or closes his arms. I thought it'd be uncomfortable for him when he pulls his arms forward, but aparently that doesn't happen, or at least he did not complain yet. Our ears don't stand up, possible because our knit hasn't got enough structure to stand, nonetheless they are still pretty cute. Staring at it now, I think I should have used the black fabric for front and back. Oh, and our bands were recycled from adult hoodies. 

Se ele gostou? Claro que sim! A foto acima confirma-o. Só queria que este calor passasse duma para que terça feira o miúdo não assasse dentro do hoodie. E para quem desse lado gostou da ideia, ainda vão a tempo de espreitar todas as outras opções disponíveis e comprar o molde em desconto (link lá acima, logo no início deste post). Têm o fim de semana para pôr mãos à obra. Depois juntam umas calças pretas (que é o que eu vou fazer) e em duas horas têm um disfarce pronto. 

Did he like it? Oh yes! The above photo seals that. I just wanted this hot weather to be finally gone for good, so tuesday the boy wouldn't bake inside the hoodie. Then you just throw in a pair of black pants (which is surely what I'll do) and, in about two hours, you have yourself a new costume.

Umas das peças que adorei, mas adorei mesmo em todas as fases foi o Hazel top. E quando falo em fases refiro-me a ter adorado o desenho do mesmo assim que vi o molde pela primeira vez, a fase em que escolhi os tecidos, a costura e depois, foi das peças que mais gostei de ver na miúda depois de terminadas todas elas.

One of the pieces I loved, I mean I really loved at each and every stage was the Hazel top. And by stage, I mean loving the design at first sight, the stage when I got to pick up my fabrics, the sewing itself and then, it was one of my favorite ones to see on my girl after finishing them all.

Estes tecidos ainda vêm da minha época mais gótica e guardava-os com tanto amor, gostava tanto (e gosto) tanto deles. Eram daqueles que adiamos sempre cortar, o que pensando bem, é completamente idiota. Nesta minha fase, em que preciso mesmo de baixar a quantidade de material que tenho, estou a usar tudo. E estes foram a melhor escolha para este molde. 

These fabrics have been in my stash since my goth years and I was saving them religiously, I loved them so much (and still do). They were those we're always postponing the cutting, which is quite foolish if we give it a thought. In this fase of my life, when I really need to downsize my stash, I am actually using it all. And these were the best choice for this pattern. 

Se eu gostei do molde quando o vi pela primeira vez (só a frente), assim que vi as costas ainda gostei mais. As instruções indicam coser uma fita fina do próprio tecido para atar, mas achei que uma fita larga como esta ia dar aquele ar ao top e foi o que fiz. Além de que poupei um tempinho de costura. Não me arrependo nada. 

As much as I loved this top as I saw it for the first time (front), I could only love it even more when I had a glance of the back. The instructions called for a tight made in the same fabric as the top, but I couldn't resist the look of a wider ribbon and that's what I did. Plus it saved me a little time sewing. I do not regret it at all. 

O molde vem nos tamanhos 2-12 anos, e acho que fica lindo em qualquer menina. O corte assimétrico confere-lhe carácter e eu ia adorar ter um para mim também... igualzinho a este, mas não me sobrou tecido para isso. Por vezes invejo tanto o guarda roupa da minha filha. Para quem como eu ficou com invejinha da miúda, não fiquem! Existe uma versão para mulher também. 

The pattern comes in sizes 2-12, and I think it looks so beautiful in any little girl. It's assimetric shape gives it some character and I would love one in my size... just like this one, but I have not enough fabric left. Sometimes I envy my daughter's wardrobe so badly. But, if just like me you're a bit green like me, don't! There's a ladies version as well.

Claro que se fiz um top, tinha que lhe fazer umas calças para completar o modelito. Para fazer as calças usei umas de ganga que me foram dadas ou pela minha mãe, ou pela minha irmã, já não sei. Já começa a ficar difícil o reaproveitamento de adulto desta forma para a miúda, mas estas eram grandes o suficiente. No entanto tive que fazer alguns ajustes ao molde. Nomeadamente encurtar a cintura e colocar um cós elástico em malha, ainda assim o gancho ficou muito longo. 

And if I made a top, I obviously had to make something to pair it with, so I made her some pants too. To make them I refashioned a pair of jeans that either my mom or my sister gave to me. It starts to get hard to refashion adult jeans this way for my daughter, but these were big enough. Even though, I had to make a few adjusts to the pattern. More specifically, I added a elastic knit band at the waist, and even though the crotch was a bit too long. 

Este molde é tão, mas tão versátil que conseguem costurar quase todo o tipo de peças só com ele. A sério, as opções nunca mais acabam. Os tamanhos vão de recém nascido aos 12 também, e podem escolher entre o vestido, o macacão, calças, calções, top e saia curta ou comprida. Tentador, não? Há dois anos fiz-lhe a versão vestido curto. A miúda não ficou propriamente feliz com as calças. Ficaram-lhe ainda grandes de comprimento e são mais para o largo, então ela franziu o nariz, mas eu devo confessar que por minha vez, gostei imenso do look baggie das calças com o toque mais clássico do top. 

This pattern is so, but so versatile that you can almost sew a full wardrobe with it alone. Seriously, the options are endless. It comes in newborn to 12 size, and you can choose between the dress version, the romper, pants, shorts, top and short or maxi skirt. Tempting, ah? Two years ago I made the short dress version. The girl wasn't exactly happy about her pants. They are still a bit too big on her, so she a bit unpleased, but I have to confess that I actually really loved the baggie jeans look with the classic touch of the top. 

O detalhe nas bainhas é da minha autoria. Ela tinha umas calças que deixaram de servir que tinham este pormenor e desde há muito tempo que eu o queria recriar, mas era uma ideia que me escapava sempre que costurava calças. Uma vez que este molde até é muito básico, o timing for ideal. Como aproveitei os bolsos das calças originais, essa parte também ficou diferente do molde original. 

The hem detail was added by me (not in the pattern). She had some pants that no longer fit with this on and I have been planning to recreate it for quite a while, but everytime I did pants I would just forget about it. Once the pattern was quite simple, this couldn't be a better timing to try it on. Since I used the original pockets, that part also looks different from the original pattern. 

Este post hoje, de curto não tem nada, e ainda há mais para vos mostrar. A seguir fica o outro fato blusa/calças que lhe costurei. A blusa foi a primeira vez que fiz e alterei ligeiramente o molde, já as calças, tinha costurado o ano passado umas outras e que são das mais usadas cá por casa. Cheira-me que estas também serão. 

Today's post is anything but short, and there's more to show you. Next in line there's another outfit shirt/pants that I made her. I made this shirt for the first time here and hacked it slightly, but I had sewed these pants already, last year, and those are one of those she uses the most. I sense these will be just like so.

Se o ano passado optei por fazer um tamanho maior ao que ela vestia, desta vez fiz o mesmo tamanho, um ano depois e ainda gostei mais de como as calças lhe assentam. Todos os moldes que têm algo diferente e inesperado como é o caso deste, chamam-me à atenção, e se ainda por cima forem modernos e confortáveis, então é a cereja no topo do bolo. 

If I opted for one size bigger while making it last year, this year I made her the exact same size, a year later, and I even liked how it fits even more. Every pattern with something different, an unexpected details just like in this case, tend to click on me, and if on top of it they are modern and comfortable, then it is for sure the cherry on top. 

Usei um dos pontos decorativos da minha máquina para a costura do bolso e usei linha branca para dar contraste tal como acontece com os botão em estrela (na verdade ia colocar todos iguais, mas caiu-me um dos escuros e como não o encontrei, nem tinha mais nenhum, lá tive que apelar à inovação), o cordão, o cós e os punhos. 

I use done of my machines decorative stitches to sew the pockets and for contrast I used white thread, just like I did with the star button (I was going to use all button the same as the dark ones, but one fell and I couldn't find it, nor I had another one, so I had to appeal to innovation), the cord, the waistband and the ankle bands. 

Claro que as calças estavam mesmo a pedir algo a combinar, certo? Pois bem, se no cós e tal tinha usado uns retalhos que tinha por cá (do tecido branco), para a blusa quis usar o mesmo tecido, mas já não tinha suficiente. Até que me lembrei que tinha usado o mesmo tecido para fazer um teste a um molde de blusa de mulher e que não tinha corrido bem, nem sequer estava todo acabado, assim que lá o resgatei e reciclei para ela e consegui um conjunto que combina.

Of course the pants were screaming for something to match it, right? Well, if I used some scraps I already had in the bands (the white fabric),  for the top I wanted to use the same fabric but I didn't have enough anymore. I then thought about a shirt I sewed for a test, it didn't go that well, and I hadn'teven finish it, the best part was I used this same fabric for that, so I could go save it and refashion it into my girl's and create a matching outfit. 

Ainda assim, o tecido não era suficiente para toda a peça, e mais uma vez tive que improvisar, por isso, adicionei dois retalhinhos do tecido azul que usei nas calças, para conseguir o comprimento da manga que eu queria, que é o ideal para esta altura do ano em que os miúdos voltam à escola, e que tanto faz calor, como faz frio. Tal como usei a linha branca para contrastar nas calças, na blusa segui a mesma onda, e costurei com a linha azul para que se destaca-se. No fim, fiquei muito satisfeita com o resultados deste conjunto também.

Still though, the fabric wasn't quite enough and I had to improvise once again, so I added two scraps from the pants fabric to the sleeves to give them the lenght I wanted them to be, which is the right one for this time of year when kids go back to school and we can never tell if it's going to be too warm or too cold. So, just like I used the white thread in the pants for contrast, I did the same for the shirt with the blue thread for contrast as well. After all, I was pretty pleased with this outfit oo. 

Já que estava numa onda de pontos decorativos, escolhi um diferente do das calças e apliquei-o como acabamento, não só para as mangas (onde uni as duas peças) como também na junção da parte de cima e a de baixo do corpo, tanto na frente, como atrás. 

Since I was in a decorative stitches mood, I went with a different one to finish off my shirt, not only in the sleeves (where I sewed both pieces together) but also in the junction of top and bottom pieces from front and back shirt body. 

Este molde pode ser feito na versão top ou vestido, com mangas tipo raglan que podem ter um acabamento normal ou com virola. As mangas também, apresentam 3 comprimentos: curto, longo e 3/4. O top pode ter uma bainha normal ou do tipo high-low. Normalmente, quando me é dada essa opção entre várias, é a que eu escolho, mas deixa vez, optei pela normal, para variar. 

This pattern can be made in a top or dress version, in a raglan style with 3 sleeve lenght options: short, long or 3/4. The hems on the sleeves can either be regular or folded. The top can have a regular hem or a high-low one. Usually I pick this last one over any other when given the choice, this time though, I went with the regular for a change.
