Excepto no ano passado, costumo fazer umas listas do melhor e do pior do meu ano (no que toca à costura) por esta altura. Este ano deram-se algumas mudanças e acabei algo desmotivada, o que me levou a costurar e a blogar muito menos. Achei por algum tempo, que era uma fase e que estaria de volta em breve. Conforme o tempo foi passando percebi que talvez não, que este era o meu novo ritmo, e hoje, sinto-me bem com isso. Este ano apeteceu-me continuar com a "tradição" e vou publicar alguns posts dos meus top 5.

For a few years I did these lists of the best and worse of my (sewing) year, around this season. I didn't last year though. A few things changed this year and I was a bit unmotivated, which led me to sew and blog much less. For a while, I thought that was just a phase and I'd be up to sewing and blogging soon. As time went through tough, I noticed that it was just my new rhythm and right now, I guess I can say I am good with it. This year I am back with my "tradition" and am doing a few posts of my top 5.

#5. Esta boína é qualquer coisa de especial. Ainda não sei quem gosta mais dela, a minha filha ou eu.
That berret is quite something. I am still not sure who liked it better, my daughter or I. 

#4. Há muito que queria fazer um colete para a miúda assim e pude finalmente concretizá-lo este ano. Assim que chegou o frio entrou a uso e é um dos preferidos cá de casa. 

I've been wanting to make a vest like this for my girl for a while now and I finally did it this year. As soon as the cold arrived we've put it to a good use. 

#3. Este tinha que entrar no meu top 5 sem qualquer margem para dúvida. O miúdo adorou, eu adorei, tem feito o maior sucesso por aqui. 

This one just had to get to my top 5, no doubt at all. The boy loved it, I loved it, we just keep getting compliments on it.

#2. Gostava tanto de ter feito este no meu tamanho. Ela não o vestiu muito porque o tempo esfriou depois de o fazer, mas é lindoooo!!!
I wish I had made this one for me. She didn't wear it much because the weather was already getting colder when I sewed it, but it's soooo pretty!!!

#1. Em primeiro lugar, não poderia estar outro senão o primeiro soutien que fiz na vida. Depois das dificuldades iniciais acabei com uma peça que me agrada muitissímo.
First place had to be, of course, destined to the first bra I ever made. After some begginer difficulties, I ended up with a piece that satisfies me a lot. 

THE MISSES

Antes de mais nada, gostaria de dizer que não há qualquer problema com estes moldes, o que correu mal, e os fez entrar nesta lista está relacionado com outros fatores que passo a explicar abaixo. 

Before anything elase I'd like to say that there's no real problem with these patterns, whatever went wrong and made this pieces into my "misses" list has to do with other factors, as I explain later on. 

#1. As calças! Gostei delas quando as fiz, mas aparentemente fui a única. A miúda não gostou, acho que se calhar porque ainda lhe estão um pouco largas. Ficaram guardadas para o próximo ano. 

These jeans! I liked them when I made them, but apparently I was the only one. The girl didn't love it so much, maybe because they're still a bit too big for her. They were saved, maybe next year. 

#2. Deste ela até gostou, mas apesar do vestido servir custa um bocadinho a passar pela cabeça e irrita-se com isso, por isso, fica sempre de parte. 

She actually like this one, but it feels a bit tight to go though her head which makes her mad and sends it to the back of her wardrobe. 

#3. Ora cá está uma peça que fez imenso sucesso, mas que ficou encostada o resto do verão porque precisava de um pequeno arranjo. Na verdade, o mal não está na peça, mas no facto de eu não ter tido a decencia de me dedicar a ela. 

Well here's something that was quite a sucess but still got pushed aside the rest of summer because it needed a little fixing. Truth is, whatever that went wrong is on me, and the fact that I totally missed fixing it.

#2. E aqui outra peça que falhou por falta de um elástico na cintura e as bainhas. Ele ainda o vestiu uma vez para irmos às piscinas, mas tirando isso andaram de um sítio para o outro no meu quarto de costura. 

Here's another piece that failed because I still needed to add an elastic to the waist and hem it. He did wear it once in summer, for the swimming pool, but other than that, it has been moving from one place to the next in my sewing room. 

#1. O problema aqui foi mesmo a parte em que descuidei a parte de verificar os tamanhos do molde. Achei que fazendo o tamanho 6 as calças serviriam por esta altura, mas a verdade é que ficaram mesmo muito grandes e ainda não servem à miúda. Estão guardadas, à espera que cresça mais um pouco. 

The problem with this one was that I skipped checking the size charts on the pattern. I really thought that making size 6 it would fit her right by now, but truth is that that are really big still and do not fit her. We saved them, while she grows a bit more. 

EYMM Off the shoulder Tour

Sinto que passei o ano a queixar-me da falta de motivação que andei a sentir durante tanto tempo. No entanto - e apesar dos posts no blog não acompanharem, noto como a minha vontade de costurar tem sido maior que a vontade de procrastinar qualquer criação. Uma das últimas coisas que costurei e que vos venho mostrar hoje é este vestido. O molde é o Off the Shoulder Dress and Peplum Top da EYMM. 

I feel like I've spent the year complaining of lake of sewing motivation. However - and although the posts on the blog aren't mirroing it, I see like my will to sew has been bigger than my procrastination skills. One of the latest things I sewed is thid dress I am sharing today. It is the Off the Shoulder Dress and Peplum Top by EYMM. 

Apesar de só precisar do meu número, gosto que os moldes EYMM tenham tantos números à escolha, vão do XS ao 5X, no meu caso, usei o mais pequeno claro. As opções são muitas, temos o peplum que é mais curto, tipo túnica, e no vestido existem duas alturas à escolha, pelo joelho ou abaixo do joelho. Como sou baixa tirei uns bons centímetros do meu e deixei a bainha por fazer, intencionalmente. A linha da cintura também pode ser personalizada por existirem duas opções diferentes no molde. 

Even though I only need my size, of course, I like that EYMM's patterns come in such a good size range, they go from XS to 5X, in my case I did the smaller one. The options are many, we have the peplum lenght and two dress lenghts, above the knee and below knee. I did the shortest and cut a few more centimeter off because I am short, I also left the raw edge intentionally. The waist line can also be personalized, you have two lenghts to do so.

A saia podia ser circular ou franzida na cintura, e eu que sou como as miúdas pequeninas e gosto de ver um vestido com roda, escolhi a primeira opção. Entre as mangas compridas ou a 3/4, escolhi novamente a primeira opção. Já que o vestido tem esta gola tão grande não me fazia sentido fazer as mangas a 3/4, tão quentinha em cima e depois os braços de fora? Nahhh, não é para mim. Aproveito para vos falar da gola, que se mantem sempre bonitinha com as pregas costuradas nos lados. 

There's two options for the skirt, gathered and circle. I went with the latest because just like little girls I love some good twirl. My choice fell on the long sleeves against the 3/4 sleeves. Those just didn't seem good enough for me. With that huge warm cowl, and my arms out... Nope, not for me. And by the way, that beautiful cowl always lays perfectly thanks to the pleats on the sides.

New Pattern Alert: the Bella Bralette and Cami

Há muito tempo que eu andava cheia de vontade de experimentar a fazer um soutien para mim, e a culpa disso deve-se muito à Susana, que me deixou com a pulguinha atrás da orelha quando a conheci pessoalmente em Fevereiro (a sério que daqui a nada faz um ano?!) e me mostrou o seu. Era também o seu primeiro e ela estava tão entusiasmada que me contagiou.

I have been meaning to try and sew myself a bra for a while, I blame it on Susana, she was the one who made the sparkle start when I met her in person back in February (has it really been that long?) and she showed me hers. It was her first too and she was so excited about me that I got carried away too. 

No entanto a vontade permaneceu por cá mas sem nunca surgir a oportunidade de fazer um para mim, até que há algumas semanas deparei-me com um tester call da Jo (Day Dream Patterns) para o seu novo molde Bella Bralette & Cami e sentindo-me motivada lá tentei a minha sorte. Foi à Susana que encomendei a minha renda, linda e tão suave!

Although I wanted to do it I haven't found the oportunity to make one though, until I got across a tester call from Jo (Day Dream Patterns) a few weeks ago, it was for the her new pattern Bella Bralette & Cami and feeling motivated I applied. It was also from Susana that I ordered my lace, so beatiful and soft! 

Adoro o meu novo bralette, por inteiro. Fiquei encantada com o resultado final - afinal isto foi uma novidade para mim - e não me canso de olhar tanto o exterior como o interior, pois também este está com acabamentos tão pro, que dão gosto. Além de que dá suporte, sem o desconforto dos arames. Ando rendida aos bralettes (só tenho mais um, que por acaso comprei uns dias antes de terminar este). E é engraçado como não sinto a falta das copas com enchimento como me habituei a usar, a Susana já me tinha dito isso (ambas temos peito pequeno e conversámos sobre isso), mas eu tinha cá as minhas dúvidas. Miúda, se me lês: estavas certa!!!

I love my new bralette, completely. I was delighted with the final result - after all, this was new to me - and I can't get enough of staring at it, not only from outside, as inside too, since it looks so good and so professionally done, so good. Besides it has a good support it has, even without wires. I have surrendered to bralettes (I onlt have another one I bought just a couple of days before I made my own). And it is funny how I don't miss my usually worned padded cups, Susana had told me that before (we talked about it since we both have small breasts), but I had my doubts. Well girl, if you're reading this: you were right!

Quanto ao molde, tem 25 números e apresenta 3 opções diferentes, esta que fiz que é cruzado na frente, depois há a opção em V e também o cami que pode ser usado em qualquer uma das versões anteriores. A frente é toda forrada com bonitos acabamentos que não deixam costuras visíveis. Agora que olho para a foto da parte de trás do meu, vejo que poderia ter centrado o padrão da renda, nabice pura, nem pensei muito nisso quando cortei. De qualquer forma, já tenho outro cortado na mesa de trabalho, à espera de acabar as costuras loucas de pré natal para o terminar. 

As for the pattern, it comes in 25 sizes, and has 3 different options, the plunge neckline which is the one I made, then there's the V-neckline and also the cami, which you can add to any of the previous options. The front cups are completely lined with nice finishings and no raw edgwa visible. And now that I actually took a good look at my back photo, I realised I could have centered my lace pattern, bahh, I haven't even think of that when cutting. Anyway, I already have another one on my working table, just waiting for the crazy before christmas sewing to be done, to get finished too.

Oh Oh Oh Santa is coming

Já começa a cheirar a Natal por todos os cantos. Cá em casa, já fiz a minha lista e já comecei a preparar as prendas deste ano. Ainda não decorei, não consigo fazê-lo antes de Dezembro, mas já tenho algumas ideias de coisas que gostava de fazer este ano. 

It's starting to smell like Christmas everywhere. As for me, I have my presents list done and I have started preparing some. I haven't started with the decorations yet, I just can't before December, although I have a good idea of which things I want to make. 

Entretanto surgiu a oportunidade de um teste diferente, um saco em forma de Pai Natal (ou duende, ou bonecos de neve - fica ao vosso critério - vejam mais aqui). Eu ainda tenho esperança de conseguir fazer mais (tenho sempre mais planos que tempo nestas alturas), para que cada um dos miúdos receba um. A ideia é encher com mimos que podem ser cartões com ideias de atividades para fazermos juntos, doces, ou outros miminhos que lhes agrade. 

In the mean while I was able to get to test a different pattern, a Santa stocking bag (or elf, or snowmen as seen on the test group - it's up to you - see more here). I hope I still get to make a second one (I always have more plans than time to get them done by this time), so each of my kids get its own. The idea is to fill it up with treats which can be activity cards for us to make together, sweets and every other little treat they like. 

A minha parte preferida é a barba do Pai Natal. Não tinha tecido com pêlo (branco, isto é) e pensei em usar no seu lugar esta lã que tenho por cá há anos. Comprei-a para outro Pai Natal, vejam aqui. Juntei cada fio um a um. Depois costurei tudo junto. Gosto de ver a barba presa em baixo ou solta. O bigode e o cabelo foram feitos da mesma forma. Levei uma eternidade para o fazer, mas fiquei tão orgulhosa quando terminei. E mais uma vez... foi um grande empurrão à criatividadetrabalhar com aquilo que já tinha por casa. 

My favorite thing about my own Santa is the beard. I was running out of fur fabric (white, it is) and thought about this yarn I had for a few years. I bought it for another Santa, see it here. I attached each piece of it, one by one. Then I sewed it together. I like it tight on the bottom or just loose. The mustach and hair were made the same way. It took me forever but I was so proud once I finished. And again... hails for creativity boost everytime I have to work with what I already have. 

O molde traz dois tamanhos diferentes de pompons, que eu fiz em branco e vermelho. Não os acham tão fofos? Adoro pompons, serei a única? Aprendi a fazê-los com a minha mãe quando era criança, e gosto deles desde então. 

The pattern comes with two different pompom sizes, which I did in white and red. Aren't they so  cute? Am I the only one to love pompoms? I learned how to make them when I was very little, with my mom, and I've loved them ever since.

Minha gente, acaba de sair um novo molde pelo qual fiquei encantada. É o Dress Up Hoodie da Mouse House Creations é é qualquer coisa de especial. Além de que é perfeito para esta altura do ano, para quem gosta de festejar o Halloween. Mesmo que ainda não tenham costurado um fato para os miúdos, não se preocupem, este molde pode-vos salvar. 

People, there's a new pattern out there that got me amazed. It is the Dress Up Hoodie from Mouse House Creations and it really is something special. Just perfect for this Halloween season. Even if you're running behind with a costume, don't panic, this pattern might save you. 

O meu piolho tem de se mascarar dia 31 na escolinha e eu não tinha nada para ele até há dois dias, quando acabei este novo hoodie. Escolhi fazer a versão "morcego" para ele e ficou bem melhor do que eu esperava. Como não me dava tempo de encomendar uma malha à medida para este projeto, e preta como um pequeno morcego pede, acabei por usar o que tinha à mão. O que uma vez terminado, veio reforçar a minha ideia de que a nossa criatividade se apura sempre que temos de improvisar. Modéstia à parte, tornei-me muito boa nisso. 

I live in Portugal and we don't celebrate Halloween as people do in the USA, for example, but kids get to wear spooky costumes at school, and teens are actually doing trick or treat too for these past few years, first they were very shy, just a few, but now we hear them out all the time. The bad thing is that they do a lot of nasty stuff with the "halloween" excuse. Anyway... my boy needed a costume to wear at school next tuesday, and I had zero until two days ago when I finished this hoodie. I chose to make the "bat" for him and it got even better than I hoped for. I knew I didn't have the time to order the right knit for this project, in color and type, as a bat deserves, I just worked with what I had. Once finished, it just reinforced my belief that creativity improves every time you're forced to improvise. And modesty to the paret, I became pretty good at that. 

Mas continuando, usei uma malha mais fina, que em tempos foi uma fronha de almofada XXL, e que já tinha usado parte anteriormente. Não é completamente branca embora assim parece nas fotos, tiradas ao fim da tarde, numa luta contra o pôr do sol, e quase em desespero porque 1º não se queria virar para a máquina, depois não queria o capucho na cabeça, e só para irritar depois já não queria nada, até pediu para tirar o hoodie e tudo. Sempre foi do contra, fazer o quê? E olhem que ele delirou quando viu a peça... até gritou BATMANNNNN. Ainda conseguimos algumas que d´´a para vos mostrar os detalhes da peça, por isso já me dou por satisfeita. 

And on we go, I used a light knit, that was a XXL pillow cover, and which I had used a piece of a while ago. It is not totally white as it seems to be in these pictures, taking late in the afternoon, in a duel with the sunset, and almost in despair because this kid didn't want to stare at the camera first, then he didn't want to have the hood on his head and to finish, he just didn't want to wear it at all asking us to take it off. He's always been this way, what can I do? Believe me when I say he actually liked it a lot when he saw it... he even screamed BATMANNNNN. We did get a few shots though, which I think are just enough to show you the details. 

O molde é composto por vários animais, uns com capas, asas, unicórnios, caudas, orelhinhas, enfim... é muita fofura junta, e a mais velha também já fez o seu pedido. Para este usei o molde base do hoodie, dispensei o bolso da frente e em vez disso, desenhei (a olho mesmo) um morcego num papel, cortei-o em flanela (o que se revelou uma óptima opção, já que a flanela aderiu bem à malha, dando-lhe estabilidade e facilitando a sua aplicação - feita com um ponto zigue-zague muito pequenino). Usei as orelhas e asas de morcego, estas últimas são costuradas nas mangas, para as quais usei também a flanela. Era o único tecido preto na minha coleção que me pareceu indicado. 

The pattern is made out of several different animals, some have capes, wings, horns, tails, hears, as so... it's too much cuteness altogether, and my oldest has requested her own as well. For this specific one, I used the basic hoodie, skipped the front pocked and instead I free hand drafted a bat in a papel, then cut it on flannel (which was a great option, since it adhered to the knit nicely, give it some stability and making the sewing task much easier - applied with a very small zig zag stitch). I used the bat ears and wings, this last one is sewed to the sleeves, and I used flannel for them too. This was the only fabric in my stash that seemed appropriate for the project. 

Adoro ver as asas a abrir e a fechar conforme ele mexe os braços. Ainda pensei que se poderia tornar desconfortável quando ele os estica mais para a frente, mas aparentemente isso não acontece, pelo menos não se queixou. As nossas orelhinhas não se aguentam de pé, muito possivelmente porque o tecido não tem corpo suficiente para se manter, ainda assim não deixar de ser super fofas. Agora, penso que devia ter usado preto para os dois lados, frente e trás. Ah, e os punhos são reciclados de hoodies de adulto. 

I love to see the wings moving as he opens or closes his arms. I thought it'd be uncomfortable for him when he pulls his arms forward, but aparently that doesn't happen, or at least he did not complain yet. Our ears don't stand up, possible because our knit hasn't got enough structure to stand, nonetheless they are still pretty cute. Staring at it now, I think I should have used the black fabric for front and back. Oh, and our bands were recycled from adult hoodies. 

Se ele gostou? Claro que sim! A foto acima confirma-o. Só queria que este calor passasse duma para que terça feira o miúdo não assasse dentro do hoodie. E para quem desse lado gostou da ideia, ainda vão a tempo de espreitar todas as outras opções disponíveis e comprar o molde em desconto (link lá acima, logo no início deste post). Têm o fim de semana para pôr mãos à obra. Depois juntam umas calças pretas (que é o que eu vou fazer) e em duas horas têm um disfarce pronto. 

Did he like it? Oh yes! The above photo seals that. I just wanted this hot weather to be finally gone for good, so tuesday the boy wouldn't bake inside the hoodie. Then you just throw in a pair of black pants (which is surely what I'll do) and, in about two hours, you have yourself a new costume.

Normalmente coloco sempre as costuras para os miúdos à frente das minhas, o que as recambia para segundo plano. É por isso que sempre que faço algo para mim fico tão feliz, e hoje, mostro não uma mas duas peças que acabaram de entrar no meu roupeiro, com um empurrão da Cozy uUp to Fall tour. So não posso afirmar que as ande a vestir muito porque o Verão esqueceu-se mesmo de ir embora este ano e o calor continua a fazer-se sentir. 

I always put sewing for the kids first, so sewing for myself is kind of a second plan thing. That is one of the reasons why I get so happy everytime I accomplish sewing something for myself, and today, as part of the Cozy Up to Fall tour, I didn't make one but two new pieces that went straight to my wardrobe. I just can't say I've been wearing them a lot because Summer forgot to leave this year and it's been pretty warm still.

Então comecemos com a minha peça preferida, o Piko Top. É uma blusa larga, o que se traduz em muito comforto, o que é tudo nestes dias que correm. Adoro todos os atributos deste molde, a gola simples, que mesmo só dobrada e cosida para dentro continua perfeita, as mangas justas e no meu caso os bicos de lado. 

Let me start with my favorite of both pieces, the Piko Top. A boxy styled shirt, which means extra comfort for me, and that, is all I need these days. I love all the features of this pattern, the simple neckline, which is just folded inside and still looks great, the fitted sleeves and in this case the side tails cut. 

Comprei este tecido há uns anos e durante todo este tempo pensei qm fazer precisamente uma blusa deste genero com ele. Só é pena ter demorado tanto porque adorei o resultado. Não poderia ter escolhido outro que fosse melhor para este projeto que pede um bom cair. É um tanto transparente, mas já contava com sobreposições, e como tal, está tudo bem. 

I bought this fabric a couple of years ago and all this time I was saving it for this kind of shirt precisely. Too bad I had to wait this long to finally get it done because I so love it. I found it to be perfect for this project though, with its drapey character. It is also see through but that's fine, I was counting on layering anyway. 

Então, o molde vem nos tamanhos XS-XL e Plus Size 1X-5X, e ainda inclui instruções para alterar se necessário. Podem também encontrar opções multiplas de mangas e bainhas, e costumizar como desejado. Eu fiz a opção dos bicos de lado, e as mangas compridas, mas também encontram curtas e a 3/4. A bainha pode ser ainda direita ou estilo hi-low. 

So, this pattern comes in sizes XS-XL and Plus Size 1X-5X, plus includes custom fit instructions to adjust if necessary. You can also find multiple sleeve and hem options to costumise it as you wish. I choose the side tails look and the long sleeves version but there's a short and 3/4 sleeves too. The hem can also be a regular one or hi-low styled. 

Eu não alterei em nada e gostei do resultado. Ainda ponderei no início se deveria encurtar ou não na altura mas depois segui com o molde sem alterar. Está um pouco comprido para top, mas curto demais para túnica, anda ali pelo meio, e funciona perfeitamente assim para mim. 

I made no adjusts and feel pretty happy with it. I first wondered if I should or not cut off some lenght and make it shorter, but then I just decided to go ahead and get it done as is. It's a bit too long I guess, but it's there just in between a top an da tunic and that's just perfect for me.

Estava vento, é verdade, por isso o casaco estava a esvoaçar, mas não foi por isso que estava a esconder a cara (e a rir-me na próxima foto) e sim porque os miúdos estavam a atirar-me com folhas secas, se olharem bem, dá para ver algumas. Enfim... deixem-me contar-vos mais sobre a minha segunda nova peça preferida, esta claro. É versátil, fácil e rápida de costurar - especialmente porque saltei a parte de costurar as baínhas |e não me arrependo! ah!| - e além disso, o cair fluído dá-lhe um ar super estiloso e a mim também (que é raro, ando sempre de calças de ganga e blusas simples).

It was a bit windy here, hence the cardigan floating, but the real reason I was hiding my face (and laughing in the next photo) is my kids were throwing dead leaves on me, you can see some if you pay attention. Anyway... I should tell you about my next fave thing, this cardigan of course. Versatile, easy and fast to sew - especially because I skipped all the hemming |and I don't regret it! ah!| - and to top it all, looks at how it drapes and how stylish I look (which I don't do often, always in my jeans and plain shirts). 

Usei apenas 3 peças neste molde. Sim, não vou mentir, são imensas páginas para colar mas vale a pena. O tempo gasto nessa tarefa é compensado com a rapidez com que se costura a peça. E mais, o molde vem com mais opções. O capuz é opcional, e são cinco as opções de mangas disponíveis, e duas alturas diferentes.

This is a 3 piece pattern you're looking into. Yes, I won't lie to you, get ready to tape a lot of pages, but it's so worth it. All the time you spend on that task is payed with the little time you need to actually sew it all together. And there's more than one option here too. You get to do a hooded or no hood at all version, you can choose from 5 sleeves options and there's two lenghts available too. 

Olhem só as riscas certinhas nas costuras, mesmo sem ter tentado!! =D Aqui outro tecido que guardei durante mais do que deveria. Tenho quase a certeza que os mandei vir a ambos na mesma encomenda. Não deixa de ser engraçado que tenha acabado por os usar a ambos ao mesmo tempo também. Sempre adorei este, e ainda o apanhei umas vezes enquanto procurava tecidos para fazer umas peças para os miúdos, mas acabei sempre por devolvê-los ao sítio porque queria-o mesmo para mim.

Look at that! Matching stripes, even when you«re not trying to!! =D Another fabric I was keeping for longer than I should have. I am almost sure I bought both of these fabric in the same order. It's kinda funny that I get to use them at the same time too. I've always loved it so much, I actually grabbed it from my shelves a few times, when they would have been perfect for any kids project I was working on, but I was so determined to make something for me out of it, that I always went back and restore it to its place, I really wanted it for myself.

Eu sei que estamos no Outono, e que este tipo de roupa começa a não se encaixar, mas por aqui os dias continuam quentes, talvez ainda o consiga continuar a vestir. Se não estou errada, comecei a costurar este biquíni em Fevereiro de 2016. Estávamos em pleno inverno e senti necessidade de começar alguma costura de verão. Vai-se lá entender! Acontece que entretanto o verão veio e passou, e o biquíni ficou por terminar. Permaneceu guardado no seu saco, na minha caixa de projectos inacabados. Esqueci-me dele. 

I know this is Autumn already, and that this isn't the most appropriate season's clothes but days are still so warm around here I still might use it yet. If I'm not completely wrong, I started sewing this bikini around February 2016. It was winter around here and I felt the need to start sewing for summer. Go figure! It happens that summer came and went and no bikini was finished back then. It was kept in a bag, inside my wip projects instead. I forgot about it.  

Depois, houve um dia mais recentemente, em que tínhamos planos de ir à praia, e mesmo antes de partir eu tinha um par de horas livres. De repente, vindo do nada a ideia de terminar o biquíni atingiu-me ao olhar para os meus fatos de banho e não sentir vontade de usar nenhum deles (inclusive um feito por mim também). Assim que o terminei e poucas horas depois já o estava a aproveitar em acção.

Then one day recently, we had plans to spend the day at the beach, but before we left, I had a couple of hours free. Somehow the thought of finishing the bikini hit me out of the blue, as I opened my swimwear drawer and didn't feel like any of those I already had (including a handmade one). So finish it I did, and enjoyed it in action just a few hours later. 

Usei um molde do nº 564 (Nov. 2006) da revista Manequim. O molde é o nº 505 e eu fiz o tamanho PP. Deveria ter feito o tamanho P para a parte de baixo, porque sinto-a um pouco apertada. Deveria também ter deixado menos espaço na frente, pois parece-me demasiado "descascado" para o meu gosto. Está nos planos encurtar um pouco a distancia entre as duas copas.

I used a Manequim pattern, from edition number 564 (nov. 2006). It is pattern 505 and I made a XS size. I should have done a S for the bottom though, it feels a bit tight. I also think the space left in the front of the top is too wide and I plan to fix that anytime. 

Como eu sou um bocado para o lisa nas frentes, não parece fazer grande mossa, ainda assim prefiro dar o jeito. Dá para vestir assim, fica tudo onde deve e nada de fora. E claro, adoro o tecido que usei. Já tinha feito um fato de banho para menina que nunca cheguei a publicar no blog, mas que partilhei sim no IG. Este tecido é um horror para costurar (a minha máquina saltou uns pontinhos como dá para ver na foto acima, mas já estava tão fartinha que fingi nem ver), mas vale mesmo a pena, mesmo porque é bastante resistente.

I think because I am too flat it doesn't make much of a difference but I still prefer to change it. It is wearable though, keeping everything in place. And I love the fabric of course. I had already made a little girls swimsuit with it, but only shared on IG. This fabric is hell to be sewn (my machine skipped a few stitches as you can see in the photo above, but I was so over it already that I just pretended I wasn't seeing it), but it's so worth it and it is quite resistent too. 

Ambas as peças estão forradas com um outro tecido que costumo usar como forro (como aqui e aqui) porque apesar de ser lindo, é de fraca qualidade, demasiado fino e depressa perde as suas cores vivas e lindas. É uma pena, foi uma má compra.

Both pieces are lined, and for that I used that other fabric I usually use for lining (as here and here) because although it is so pretty, it is also from a bad quality, too light and easily looses its pretty colors. It's such a shame, I know! 

Levei-o de férias há um par de semanas, e só vos posso dizer que o adoro imenso! É mesmo o meu novo biquíni preferido. Gosto especialmente do formato e como assenta a parte de baixo. E vocês? Já fizeram alguma roupa de banho ou ainda não se atreveram?

It went with me on holidays a couple of weeks ago, and I love it so much! It seriously is my new favorite bikini. I especially love the shape and fit of the bottoms. What about you? Have you ever sewn a swimwear piece or have you not dare too yet?
